1. Nobody is forcing anything, albeit the definition of a Gym Leader has been carved for more than a decade now. What you are describing is a Trainer vs Trainer.

Basically what you have said here while I was typing.

Who enforces the rule that Gym Leaders cant switch? Ussually theres a ref on the side yelling the rules.
Who makes the rules for the Refferee to enforce? The League,The Gym Leader?
If its the leader itself that makes these rules who says there cant be a gym where there can be switched.

I think that League sets the rules as to avoid double standards in Gyms.

And I agree on separate Gym Leader thread. It would make the rules discussion much easier.

I see your point, I really do. But try to understand mine as well. The more blurred the rules get, the less of a official Gym match it is. However I do see how it's probably a thing only important to me and others might go for less restricted battles.

I am all for clearcut rules. My point is that these rules can be taken down after someone has beat a Gym Leader and challenges him again to possible enter the E4.

What I am thinking is like that:

The 1st you challenge and until you beat a specific Gym Leader, both players will be bound by standard rules. When/If the challenger beats the Gym Leader for one time, the Leader will then recognise the Challenger's right to aqcuire a badge from him and the challenger can earn it by beating him again with switching allowed for the Leader and any other rule they deem needs to be changed.

When/If the challenger beats the leader for the 2nd time, then the leader is oblige to provide a badge by posting here and providing the code of the replay. When/If someone has all badges they can enter the E4 where they will find 4 gym leaders with a full team of 6 and only standard smogon rules applied.

If they beat them as well, then they can challenge the Champion who will be another Gym Leader with again a full team of 6 and Smogon rules. If they do, they are awarded the title of the Champion. What they will do with that, we can discuss, but it's far far far away for now

Now I can agree on that. Basically introducing a rematch system, like the one from games (when next gym leader battle is harder).
Both 'official rules' people like me, and 'meta-game competitive' people like Demonhuntr can be happy with that solution.
That's something I could approve.

We totally have to design our badges. Sucks I can only use Paint. >.<
