the Lester B. Pearson award (now Ted Lindsay Award) is the NHLPA choice award, so, there ya go
why fret so much over these trophies anyway, at least they don't give them to juicers like in MLB
oh, and who did the NHLPA choose to win it last, I don't remember...

It was probably an interesting day for the Stastny family to see Paul score 2 goals against Slovakia.
only 3-1? Fucking sad.
Already miss the NHL can't wait for Olympics to be over
I guess we will get to see just how important Tavares was to those Islanders now. If Okposo keeps up the scoring, good for him for proving me wrong... doubt it happens, though.
They may be last in their division, but that's WITH him being 3rd in scoring. We can really get a grasp on how bad the Isles are without him - he's only missed 4 games in his career to this point.
This is the big issue. The NHL will 100% be using this as an argument for not going to South Korea in 2018. Losing ticket sales/revenue and getting zero compensation to promote a tournament that most North Americans won't even be awake to see? Bettman says: no thanks.
Be sad if they gave up the Olympics. A lot of European players take great pride in playing in international competitions and they account for like a third of NHL players now. Preventing NHL players from playing in the Olympics also has it's share of risks, regardless of how you look at it. It's a great promotional tool for hockey in general.
The Olympics would just be rampant with solely KHL players if the NHL decided to pull out.
Without the NHL, all the European teams would be more boring then watching paint dry. Are you really willing to give up your best and most dynamic players to have European exclusivity in the Olympics? Because that's what you are going to get.

Yeah, with those time differences I can understand, however the fact that the league cares more about money then they do about their athletes having a role on the world stage and selling their brand of hockey world wide is kind of pathetic. And you know, if the league doesn't let players go, they will just do what Kovalchuck did and retire from the NHL and void their contracts, what is the league going to do when half of their great players all jump ship because they want to go represent their country internationally? Also, the other European leagues seem to have ZERO issue with their players attending, it's only the NHL that is all uppity about it. Greed gets in the way of enjoyment of a sport just like the lockouts have.
Zetterberg out 7-8 weeks after back surgery. Let's hope for no more serious injuries =x
They're gonna have a real hard time convincing them to send players for South Korea lol
