Warcraft RTS Units and Heroes adapted to Heroes of the Storm

The goal of this thread is to adapt the units from the RTS games into Heroes, either as new characters that capture the spirit of the unit, like Sgt. Hammer, or as lore characters that can take up that mantle, like Reghar becoming the WC3 Shaman (not that I'm a fan of that choice personally, but that's for another time).

Most of these will be very bare bones initially, and some liberties will be taken due to ability or thematic overlap, those that get positive feedback or interest will be developed further.

First up, the Alliance. "Sons of Lothar" set

Footman: Force Commander Danath Trollbane: Melee Warrior
Trait: Trollbane-Enemies struck by attacks or abilities have regen and healing reduced for a short duration.
Q: Draw Steel!: Damage target enemy, and increase the damage done by yourself and nearby minions
W: Defend!: Reduce speed but also reduce damage taken for both yourself and nearby minions
E:Advance!: Leap towards the target enemy, damaging, slowing them, and increasing movement speed for yourself and nearby minions.
R1: Path of Valor: Danath summons a squad of footmen and gains increased stats for each one alive.
R2: Blood of Heroes: Danath increases the damage taken by all nearby enemies, gaining increased damage, healing, duration and movement speed for each one killed.
Summary: Danath is the tactician of the Sons of Lothar, handling battles on an individual level, but is also a skilled combatant on his own. Through talents he can become a tanky teamfighter and pusher, extending his buffs to others, or he can specialize in single target slows and fights.

Archer: Ranger Captain Alleria Windrunner: Ranged Assassin
Trait: Pursuit: After damaging an enemy, your speed is increased and you have vision of them for a short period.
Q: Silver Arrow: A long range attack that ignores terrain features to damage the target enemy.
W: Thalassian Flare: Toss a flare into the air, revealing a large amount of the area, and causing enemies to miss their attacks
E: Elfstride: Leap, pushing back nearby enemies, carrying you over terrain and increasing your speed.
R1: Gale Arrow: Loose an arrow that damages all enemies in a line and pushes back those struck and in a wider range around it.
R2: Extermination: Reveal the nearest enemy hero and cause them to take increased damage.
Summary: Alleria is meant to hunt down highly mobile champions and champions that make use of stealth.

Knight:Supreme Commander of the Alliance Anduin Lothar The Lion of Azeroth: Melee Warrior
Trait: Brotherhood of the Horse: Can fight while mounted, while in combat speed is reduced, but it increases after combat has ended.
Q: Arathi Charge: Ride forward, slowing and damaging those struck.
W: Royal Shield: Dash to, and stun target enemy and increase your defense, can be used to dash to target ally and shield them.
E: Rally: Heal yourself and increase movement speed for those around you as well.
R1: The High Blade: Gain a powerful shield and damage bonus from your sword Quel'Zaram.
R2: Lion of Azeroth: Gain a immunity to slows, stuns, and roots, slow and damage enemies you run through.
Summary: Lothar is a highly mobile warrior who can focus on disrupting the enemy in teamfights or charging across the map to harass situationally.

Paladin: High General of the Alliance Turalyon: Melee Support
Trait: Blade of Light: Lothar's broken sword is completed by the Light, healing you and nearby allies on ability use, as well as extending the range of the next ability.
Q: Denounce: Silence and damage an enemy.
W: Seal of Justice: Next attacks do bonus damage, can be triggered again to increase movement speed of self and nearby allies.
E: Holy Vision: Heal a target and give them broader vision as well as vision of hidden enemies.
R1: Exorcism: Break out of stuns, Stun the target enemy, temporarily remove their buffs and deal intense damage, if this destroys the enemy gain health.
R2: Epiphany: Clear status of allies and provide healing and bonus damage in a large area.
Summary: While Uther is a Paladin melee support that tends towards being a secondary warrior, Turalyon tends towards being a secondary assassin.

Mage: Keeper of the Eternal Watch Khadgar: Ranged Assassin
Trait: Arcane Insight: Passively increases the mana regen and ability power of nearby allies
Q: Arcane Lightning: Channel damaging bolts at a target enemy.
W: Arcane Supernova: Damage enemies around you, or around target enemy.
E: Summon Image: Create an image at target location or to follow target ally, that mimics your spells.
R1: Time stop: Stop all enemies in the target area, they cannot attack or be attacked.
R2: Portal: Create a portal entrance at one location, and a portal exit at another.
Summary: Khadgar is a arcane mage with a mix of damage and utility spells.

Falstad Wildhammer, The DragonReaver is already ingame so no need to design for him! Huzzah! That's all the Sons of Lothar!

And High Tinker Mekkatorque is slated for Gyrocopter (hopefully he's got some tinker stuff thrown in too) so that takes care of the WC2 units aside from the Dwarven Demolition Squad, also known as the MORTAR TEAM!

Demolition Squad: Angus and Shorty The Mortar Team: Ranged Specialist
Trait: Fragmentation: Secondary explosions take place shortly after a shell strikes
Q: Thorium Mortar: A long range low cooldown attack that does extra damage to buildings
W: Smoke Shell: Damage target area, exhaust from the mortar causes attacks to miss them and slows enemy speed as they make a getaway
E: Flare shell: Reveal a large area and briefly make yourself invisible
R1: Incendiary Shell: a damaging shell that creates flames doing extra damage to minions and mercenaries
R2: Titanic Shell: Launch a runed shell that does extreme damage to an area and leaves lightning strikes along its path to its target.

Next I'll work on WC2 Units for the Horde!

Grunt: Grom Hellscream Chieftain of the Warsong Clan: Melee Assassin
Trait: Warsong Bloodlust: The longer you are in combat, the faster you move and attack.
Q: Slice and Dice: Cut into your enemy with your axe, holds three charges.
W: Gorehowl: Swing your axe Gorehowl so that the air around it passes through holes in the blade causing it to scream, damaging enemies in a circle around you and slowing them.
E: For the Throat: Lunge toward a target enemy, damaging and rooting them.
R1:Bloodfury: Give in to your bloodlust, instantly maxing your traits bonus passively, now Warsong bloodlust gives bonus attack damage.
R2:Hellscream: Let out a defiant roar, stunning enemies in a cone in front of you, trigger a second time to leap to target enemy and strike them for massive damage.
Summary: Because a Blademaster champ is in the works, had to retool Grom to fit a mobile damage dealer with emphasis on his clan and last name.

Troll Axethrower: Zul'jin Amani Chieftain: Ranged assassin, is already in the works by blizz, woo!

As much as I wouldn't mind seeing some of your character choises in the game, I cannot really see there being 2 of them right now, another Windrunner wouldn't be a high priority since Sylvanas fills both the name and slot. also, we have a Melee Support Paladin already, and with Johanna incoming, it sort of fills the tanky "paladin" slot. However, I could see a Ret Paladin of sorts make the rounds.

I agree I don't think we'll see Alleria anytime soon, probably after she shows up in WoW again.

And Turalyon is geared to be similar to Uther, but instead of being a secondary Warrior like Uther's talents let him become, Turalyons would gear him towards Retribution.

A bigger worry for me there is the Diablo Paladin, but that's for another time.

    How about Goblin Sappers? :P

    1 ability:

    KAMIKAZIE!

    Trait: Respawns within 5 seconds.

Runs as fast as Erik the Swift of The Lost Vikings...also has a similar sprint ability on Z.
There is a thin line between not knowing and not caring, and I like to think that I walk that line every day.

    Coming right up!

Goblin Sapper(s): Wrex, Grizz, and Savy: Specialist(s)

Basic attack: Mid-Ranged, throws dynamite, slow speed but high damage.
Mount: Debating between extreme running speed Ala Erik the Lost Viking, or having them all pile into a grungy version of the hot-rod you use in the WoW goblin starting zone, or a mechano-hog and its sidecar.

Trait: Primed and Ready: When the Sappers die, they explode, doing more damage and causing a larger explosion for each ability that was not on cooldown. (if you die before you can use your spells, you make a bigger boom).

Q: KABOOM!: Dart over to a target enemy hero and detonate you payload, high damage but knocks you back leaves you stunned and vulnerable (take more damage) for a short period afterwards. If used on a building, a charge will be planted, giving you time to move away and not suffer the negative effects, but enemies may destroy the charge before it goes off.

W: Goblin Land Mine: Plant a mine that will explode after an enemy moves over it, after X seconds, or after too many new mines are placed (Talent: Remote trigger allows them to be set off at any time).

E: Jumper Cables: Heal yourself or target ally and increase speed, or shock target enemy to damage and stun.

R1: The Bigger One: Toss an incredibly powerful bomb, or plant it at a target building.

R2: Goblin Dragon Gun: Spray enemy with intense flames, when the ability ends, the flamethrower explodes, knocking you and nearby enemies away from each other.

Summary: Went with Three Goblins for the sappers based on the WC2 portrait though they cannot move separately like the lost vikings since they need to be together to manage their equipment. Wrex is a young male goblin, Grizz is a bit older, and Savy is a female goblin, they are a family. Each one actually represents a different take on goblins during the franchise.

Wrex is the Zany, explosives obsessed WC2-3 goblin, Grizz is the "Jersey Shore" New Yorker priding himself on engineering Goblin of Cata, and Savy is the more sensible Money-focused goblin that appears in both WC3 and current WoW (who also keeps her family alive with those jumper cables).

Not to the WC3 heroes yet.

    Could work either way.

OGRE: Krol Ogre Warlord: Melee Warrior

Although the WC2 ogres had two heads, Krol Lorewise has one and I'd use that for his model to be distinct from twoheaded spellcasting ogres like Cho'gall.

Trait: Boulderfist: Basic attacks apply 'impact' on three stacks of impact, the enemy is stunned briefly.

Q: CRUSH!: Deal heavy damage to target enemy and splash damage around them.

W: Me Smash You!: Increase movement speed as well as attack speed and damage on your next three attacks.

E: RRRAAAAAGH!: Roar, intimidating enemies, slowing them and decreasing the damage they deal.

R1: Warmaul: All attacks passively deal splash damage, damage on crush is increased, activate to become 'unstoppable' briefly, breaking snares, stuns, roots, and gaining immunity.

R2: Stonemaul: Deal immense damage to a single target, stunning them and increasing subsequent damage they take, while knocking enemies in an area round them away.

Oh wow yr right, I completely forgot those two races even existed o_o

Might not be the next heroes but the wiki does have models/progress notes for a few upcoming heroes; Kelthuzad/Rexxar/Mekkatorque/Cho'Gall/Za'Muro/Zuljin/King Leoric/The Butcher

    http://heroesofthestorm.gamepedia.co...the_Storm_Wiki

So yeah, Drainei and Worgen waiting for a hero, maybe Velen or the Drainei Paladin from the BC cinematic who has the Naaru warmace

Velen, Maraad, Yrel, any of them would work for Draenei.

For Worgen, Genn, Ivar, Crowley, would all work.

TBH I think we are more likely to get an Eredar (Archimonde) before we get a normal Draenei.

Though I will count it since technically they are the same race.

Though, please Blizzard give us LORD JARAXXUS! EREDAR LORD OF THE BURNING LEGION!

More like Wilfred Fizzlebang with trait: on death transform into Jaraxxus

Meh I'm more inclined to make that his Ult.

    Ult 1: El Pollo Grande

    Ult 2: Summon Jaraxxus

....The latter one kills him (or simply punts Wilfred back to the spawn), but you take control of Jaraxxus for a time.

    A special for today

    Mannoroth The Destructor: Melee Warrior

Trait: "Burning Blood": When taking or dealing damage, Mannoroth splatters those nearby with his burning blood, empowering allies and damaging enemies. If Mannoroth dies he explodes in "Fel Eruption", damaging nearby enemies. ("FelFountain" talent also provides damage buff after anyone on your team uses a fountain.)

Q: Annihilation: Mannoroth charges at an enemy and smashes them with his weapon, dealing damage along his path as well.

W:Howl of Terror: Mannoroth lets out a terrifying howl that reduces the damage of nearby enemies.

E: Felquake: Mannoroth slams the ground, damaging and slowing enemies in the area. Talent can allow Felnova to be cast for free after casting Felquake.

R1: FelStorm: Mannoroth calls down fel fireballs in an area damaging enemies and structures, can be talented to create Infernals.

R2: The Destructor: Mannoroth fires a beam of high energy from his weapon, dealing tremendous damage to the target enemy or structure.

as i suggested elsewhere, need not be new heroes. you could have Sgt Hammer skins as various wc3 siege units

But one unit that could totally be a hero are those Ethereal Tauren.
