Red face Rising anti-refugee attacks ‘disgrace’ for Germany - Interior minister says

    http://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2016/09...aiziere-Berlin

The German interior minister has denounced as a national “disgrace” a surge in violent attacks on asylum seekers amid growing anti-refugee sentiment in the country.

Thomas de Maiziere made the remarks in an address to an event called 'To think home anew - more security on the ground,' in the capital Berlin on Friday.

"Last year we investigated and counted criminal offences carried out against asylum seekers and asylum seekers' institutions, with shocking results, which you all know," he said.

"Increase of arson, increase of attempted murder, increase of bodily harm, and so on, from the right-wing extremist sector. This too is a disgrace for our country,” he added.

The minister further stressed that the level of crimes committed by asylum seekers was not out of the ordinary.

He also put forward changes to the residence permission law in Germany, noting that the reforms would see many more applicants "voluntarily" leave the western European state.

Over 700 cases of attacks against refugee accommodation centers have been registered so far this year, ranging from swastikas spray-painted outside the doors of the sites to arson and other forms of property damage, according to the latest police figures.

In 2015, there were a total of 1,047 attacks on planned and completed refugee shelters across Germany.

The eastern German town of Bautzen has become a flashpoint for anti-refugee sentiment. A refugee home in Bautzen was set on fire in February while onlookers applauded and chanted right-wing slogans.

This photo taken on February 21, 2016 shows firefighters trying to extinguish a fire at a former hotel that was under reconstruction to become a home for asylum seekers in Bautzen, eastern Germany. (Photo by AFP)

Germany, one of the most popular destinations for refugees, opened its borders to the refugees last summer with a welcoming mood, but it gradually shifted away from that policy.

The country registered about 1.1 million refugees in 2015.

Germany has recently seen the rise of far-right groups opposing the entry of refugees, most of whom are fleeing conflict zones in Africa and the Middle East, particularly Syria.

Many blame major European powers for the unprecedented exodus, saying their policies have led to a surge in terrorism and war in the violence-hit regions, forcing more people out of their homes.
In a time when so many are losing faith in politicians, it's great to see that there are some in Germany making a stand for what is right.

No matter who you are, you must agree that these attacks must stop. It's time to look at more severe punishment of hate crimes before it gets out of hand!!

Isn't it already severe enough punishment. Just raising it isn't necessarily fruitfull by default.
But soon after Mr Xi secured a third term, Apple released a new version of the feature in China, limiting its scope. Now Chinese users of iPhones and other Apple devices are restricted to a 10-minute window when receiving files from people who are not listed as a contact. After 10 minutes, users can only receive files from contacts.
Apple did not explain why the update was first introduced in China, but over the years, the tech giant has been criticised for appeasing Beijing.

Who would've guessed stuff like this happens when a government takes life changing decisions without asking the inhabitants of said country their opinion.

The only disgrace is that Merkel invited people from an incompatible culture.. what did she think was going to happen? Obviously people are fed up with it, and they are lucky there is not a full scale revolt and overthrow of the government and forced mass deportation. That is what should happen. Those millions are still living on welfare.

Of course the attacks are a disgrace. But politicians playing with social engineering, without the approval of the population, are also a disgrace.

If those politicans won't stop "standing for what is right", it will only get worse.

There is nothing right about what they are doing.

Chancellor Merkel was elected democratically. She has the right to make the choice.

    By what metric? Per capita?

It's time they call these people for what they are: Terrorists.
And we should try them as terrorists.
And people that support them should be handled like anyone that supports terrorism.

Next they should take a look at Facebook, etc.
It's beyond ridiculous when I see a far-right extremist making personal death threats to someone, report it and then get a reply that it's not against their freaking guidelines.
Are they terrorists just because they have another opinion than you do?

You would probably call them freedom fighters if they were sharing your opinion and attacked those you dislike.

Im not sure what you can expect from a population that is forced into things. The only reason the refugee exodus happens is beyond your population control, its another one of your government meddling into things without your consent. Then when shit hits the fan, flood them with refugee you helped create. Next to no leader in the western world are elected with super majority 75%+. Hence your actions cant be drastic or it always angers a huge part of the people, the one that did not vote for you to begin with. 1.1 million refugee in a country of 80 million was non sense. Nobody in their right mind would think its right, in a single year. European countries are already packed. We arent talking about America, Canada, Russia, here. We are talking about a 80 million population country smaller then texas.

    .
Except you know in the case when a huge part of the population of a city are the one doing it in their own city. Theres actually a point where police cant legally act against citizen revolts anyway. This is not china, its germany. Hell the same city cops are probably on their side as well anyway. Nobody going civil war mode over this.

We should be glad that the average Muslim is incompatible with arsonists, murderers and terrorists.

"They are lucky people only go Nazi-light".
99% of this shelter attacks are just a broken window or a swastika painted on a wall.
Most fires in shelter are done by refugees so they can live in a hotel or to delay there deportation.
We even got some cases where refugees painted swastikas to cover up there damage or just say some neo-nazis destroyed there stuff even one murder case that caused a huge anti right/pegida movement.

I'm not sure that smiley is appropriate, Tennisace.
