Ya little pipsqueak! I was gonna do Accept tomorrow, now I'll have to think of something else

Edit: That Lamb of God track is OK'ish - the music's not bad, the vocals are terrible.

I remember seeing them supporting Heaven & Hell back in 2008 (I think) - the crowd seemed to enjoy 'em, it just sounded like white noise to me.

    Yeah, I'm getting old

I'm old. I grew up with this music. This is my choice of the day.

    Oh, and a bonus one.

I've listened to thousands of albums from most genres in music, it still holds high in my top 10 of all time.

Same for me. Easily top 10.

This is exactly what people who don't like metal think heavy metal is - just a loud noise with someone screaming over the top - it's fucking awful. There was no music there at all, you'd get the same effect by running down a street dragging a metal spade behind you.

hallhamster - as for "atmosphere and evil feel" not being surpassed, can I take it you've never heard Black Sabbath?

Metal music is so much more than 70's-80's NWOBHM and Metallica.

It's like saying verse-chorus-verse-chorus easy-listening top 40 billboard spot fishing radio friendly 3 minute singles intended for 12 year old girls with an attention span of 3 seconds is the only real music out there.

Metal is probably the most diverse and evolved branch of the entire music tree, next to rock and electronic. By listening to just 80's heavy metal you limit yourself to about .001% of what the genre has to offer. And I can guarantee you metal has a fuckton to offer.

What, you don't like the vocals? Pretend they're another instrument. Focus on other things, like the textures, or the feeling it hopes to instill in you.

    Example:

I don't mean to berate you for not liking it, I mean to berate you for disrespecting millions of others who think it's great.

Last arbitrary clean-vocals post from me.
This album went from being something I saw people shitpost about on /mu/ to being one of my absolute favorite albums of all time. I can (and sometimes do) listen to it on repeat for hours on end without being tired of it.

But yeah for real go away if you're just going to insult us for being into harsh vocals lol

  14. #7594
OK, looks like I hit a nerve here, and for that I apologize - it's not my intent to "insult" you as Gib Lover seems to think, however I will continue to offer opinions on the tracks posted here if I feel like it. If you don't like what I have to say then please either ignore me or the post.

So, my track of the day - something upto date, one of my favourite bands, and if you're a thrash fan and don't know them then I heartily recommend you check them out. This is Suicidal Angels with "Division of Blood"

See, I don't just listen to 80's metal

Akhlys was pretty good, but this one was a super easy 2015 AOTY pick for me

That. Fucking. Ending. Whole album rekt my shit.

New Ihsahn was pretty disappointing, but one track around the end was really good.

That passed by me, I'll give it a listen when I'm done with Ihsahn
