@Yami @Enjeh I'm pretty excited for this news - I really enjoyed the movies.
@UnifiedDivide It does continue like that (and imo, gets a lot better). On top of cinematography, they use the shoenen style excellently. Some things can take a while, but they maintain pacing very well imo
First 2 episodes were storyboarded by Yoshinari, third episode was by Khara's Masayuki.
Sushio and Imaishi did KA on episode 3.
According to attendees during the LWA earlying screening.
You'll get tons of it - hard without spoiling. They also do a great job building each of the characters, which makes some scenes (especially with our boy above) extremely powerful and visually pleasing.
Btw team, good call on Outbreak Company. Enjoyed it, and some memorable jokes for me. Onwards to Oreshura, which is already looking like my scene! Thanks!
I mean, Gate and Outbreak Company are the two most similar anime to each other, at least in theme and setting. Gate is just far more serious and has to do with warfare. If you like one, you'll most likely like the other. Anytime you'll see one recommended, you'll see the other.
"Would you please let me join your p-p-party?
I enjoyed Gate quite a bit, believe I enjoyed S2 more. I can see how youd recommend it! Thanks.
Also, I'm pretty open on recommendations - I'm a basic bitch so doesn't take much to please.
Setting is similar on the base level - a permanent connection between our world and another has been established. The protagonists also have one common point - they're otaku. That's where the similarities end, though. Outbreak company is a very lighthearted comedy, while Gate is a serious and brutal war story peppered with politics on every turn. Sure, it has some light moments, but they're hardly the focus.
If you liked Outbreak Company for the comedy, light hearted attitude, ridiculously dumb and funny characters, or the stereotypical fairy tale kingdom I'm not sure you're going to appreciate Gate's ideas of comedy with things like Rory telling a young brigand she'll wait till he's done raping dead child before she kills him...
Just a disclaimer, that absolutely does not mean you can't like both - I loved both - but I really wouldn't recommend those two as similar.
for another transfered to a fantasy world anime, check out Dog Days. ...
10th Flap was amazing. Finale was not a surprise per se, since this ep 9 and 10th's start gave enough foreshadowing for the twist to become kinda obvious, but it was still great. Now I need more right now.
