Devonta Freeman talked to the press about how he wants to improve this year, highlighting being a more punishing runner.

He didn't mention improving his pass protection though...

"At league meeting next week, NFL owners will vote on proposal to allow a second player to come off IR in season. Likely to be approved."

That's HUGE if it comes true. Means it's suddenly a LOT easier to stash players on IR when you can call back 2. Injuries suck, but the limitations placed on letting injured players return suck even more and is (I think) a big factor why players play through injury when they shouldn't.

I never understood that limitation in the first place.

IR recall could entail cap space abuse but they're correctly realizing it isn't as big an issue as diminished quality caused by current system.

I understand it to some degree. You need teams to not use IR as a place to stash players and then call them up when you need them, and then stash them again, so there needs to be a limitation on recalls. But only having 1 a season was just stupid. Every team in the league gets multiple players on IR before you even hit October (counting preseason and off season), and there's quite a few who really only need like 4-6 weeks, but can't be carried cause you need the active players to compete. A lot of those players (especially inexperienced players) now get stashed for the rest of the year and can only do limited things even after coming back. It just makes sense to have more players be able to return to the roster then just the 1.

The danger is that the league needs to be careful about not going too far with loosening restrictions on injury returns. Like I said, teams would abuse it if there was no penalty, but there's also the fact that teams would be far less penalized for lack of depth if the restrictions are too loose. Depth on a team should matter, cause injuries are inevitable and part of what makes a contender is being able to lose players and still keep going.

Blount have signed a one-year deal with the Eagles.

Yep, just read it too. Glad he landed somewhere that will likely use him like they should, for the goal line duties and the grinds. Also glad he didn't sign with the Giants, cause it already pains me that Vereen went there. At least now I get to cheer for Blount and hope he does well.

Drew Brees was talking that he did not like the overtime changes that were proposed, would rather have the college overtime rules.

In actual football news: TE LaDarius Green got released by the Steelers, 1 year into a 4 year deal, with a failed physical designation. He'd suffered a concussion issue that set him back last season, and that's apparently been an ongoing issue.

There was some talk of him stepping out of Antonio Gates shadow when he left the Chargers and how he would profit from being surrounded by talent in Pittsburgh, but apparently injuries take their toll and have possibly side tracked him indefinitely.

Prognosis must be real bad, he is still young for them to be cutting him loose. They end up giving him $6mil for the one year.

    Its been pretty shitty.

Dam trouble was way up north, all there is in LA is a concrete corridor with a trickle of water through it.

Fitzpatrick signed with the Bucs. Time to see how Winston gets hurt.

The fact that it's not unreasonable to say this just cracks me up. Draw play spent a comic on it too. I pray Jameis Winston stays safe, cause he;s much mroe fun to watch then Fitzvoodoo.
