I mean you do you, boo. My point was only that there was a sexual aspect to a lot of it.
I'm no puritan, but it really makes me laugh when I see ASMRs deepthroating popsicles or something else phallic shaped. I wonder what's going through their heads. Is it just about the ad revenue? Is there any self-reflection going on? Is there any self-pity happening?
"What do you do for a living?"
"Oh well I deepthroat lollipops and popsicles on Youtube, staring into the camera suggestively while I do so."
I'm sure cam4 or another cam website pays more than Youtube's terrible revenue system. I guess kudos to them for cornering the market of poppin' 12 year old kids boners. I wonder if those kids know they're on the internet with literal endless amounts of porn.

My partner and I spend a LOT of time together. There's almost nothing else I'd rather do than be close to her. FWIW, we actually stroke each other a lot. Massage, head scratching, combing, light back scratching, crazy 8s, etc. Sometimes we do it for itself, sometimes we get so relaxed we fall asleep, sometimes it leads to sex.
What I REALLY don't get is the idea that any of this can be conducted virtually or at long distance or with some stranger via Youtube.
I mean, step away from the computer nerds. Go get laid, something...!
it can actualy be incredibly annoying to find a decent asmr video precisely because its not supposed to be sexual (any more than going to a spa is sexual - get your damn minds out of the gutter), but so often is. for me at least. you'd think it should be easy to find someone just reading a book, right? nope. searching on youtube I found almost no book reading non role play videos. believe it or not, my fave is listening to Bob Ross's painting instruction. he has a very soothing voice and because he is talking about painting techniques and such, it doesn't have that creepy factor that so many asmr videos have. and don't even get me started on this insistence on scratching or tapping or crinkling, please. stop. for the love of god. its not soothing its the opposite, to me at least.
(P.S. not that I have to explain myself, but sometimes i just want to relax, and with my SO's touch it tends to kinda... not be relaxing after a while :P)

Well, I'm a guy and I only listen girls asmr. Not saying it's something sexual but there is that, plus many people sexualize it and it does affect others thoughts.
Well look at the video I linked above (actually put it below because it's on a previous page now). That's one I listen to. I feel like that's not as extreme/weird as the ones you're talking about.
Also if I want to look at sexual stuff, generally I wouldn't be looking on YouTube for that.
Oh I have a ASMR youtuber I like too, as I said, but I'm just plain fascinated with the sexual ones. I feel like this is what a dad or mom would feel like finding out their child does porn. I'm more disappointed and want to just ask them questions about if they're proud of what they do lol.
"Honey, its okay, you can move back home. You don't have to be deepthroating easter lollipops on youtube."

I've actually watched this lady before too, she has some pretty good ones.

I like to play ASMR when I do something boring on PC or when I try to fall asleep as soon as possible. However, other than some glimpses, I never actually watch what they are doing.
My personal favorite is soap carving
I wasn't expecting that lol. The 1/3rd dislike bar is hilarious. You can tell what the audience was wanting.
Case in point.
Until right now I wasnt even aware of sexual ASMR... lol.
Here I am listening to waves and ocean sounds... :P
I love Warcraft, I dislike WoW
Unsubbed since January 2021, now a Warcraft fan from a distance
Mouth Noises That Annoy The Hell Out Of Me. MNTATHOOM, that's what I call this.
oh enough with this ridiculous whataboutery.
The reality is there are a sufficient number for ASMR channels that gets people penises hard. This is why ASMR channels now have the sexual stigma. And no it does not need to be every single one of them in order for something to get a stigma, but once a sufficient number is reached then the stigma gets attached.
There is nothing wrong with something being sexual but don't be dissingenious about it and pretend you just don't understand why people think ASMR channels are sexually arousing when the most popular ones have big breasts on every thumbnail.
Probably because a lot of the women doing ASMR online do it in a sexualized fashion? ASMR in and of itself is not necessarily sexual but it very much can have a sexual component to it depending on the scenario. Anyone not familiar with it that comes across one of these youtube girls dressed somewhat provocatively and whispering about how amazing you are and making kissing sounds is likely going to form an opinion that it is sexualized.
