    Question Need Advice

First off I want to be upfront in that I am NOT asking for medical advice on this post. I'm asking what people who may have been in a similar boat have done.

Ok so last weekend I don't know what I did but I did something and managed to get a pinched nerve in my shoulder that sends pain all the way down to the tips of my fingers. Today (6 days later) my index finger is numb. I called my doctor to make an appointment and went in. She said "pinched nerve & lets get you in to the chiropractor" but unfortunately that won't be until next Thursday. She did give me a prescription for naproxen and Voltaren to "ease the pain". Unfortunately it isn't doing shit for me. Have any of you guys ever get a pinched nerve & if so how did you go about stopping the pain it caused?

Yes ive had it and there isn't anything you can do. Sad but true. Find the most comfortable position to sit/lay in and stay there as much as possible.

Naproxen is just another form of pain killer that works with joints and muscle it possibly a non reaction so maybe you’ll need a different kind. Through the years I’ve only ever had sciatica which is a nerve which can effect the muscle but it’s is a nerve. Might need something else.

For me it took a few months for it to work it’s way out. That was down my leg not sure if your shoulder is the sweat.

Also have a friend who worked as a card dealer at a casino and needed surgery for his shoulder blade because he wore it down to the bone nearly as much can I can remember.

I had a pinched nerve and I was given medication (gabapentin) and was told that if it did not improve by a certain time period that we would need to discuss surgery. Luckily it cleared up, took months though.

Get a different doctor since none of them should ever promote quackery like Chiropractic.

Also, Naproxen is just a shitty NSAID. You may need an opioid painkiller like hydrocodone or oxycodone.

I pinched the ulnar nerve in my left hand, was worried about permanent nerve damage. Had an EMG test, was told it would resolve on its own. Just had to wait a couple weeks.

There is nothing 400mg Ibufren and 1000mg Paracetamol wont fix. I made it trough nerve infection in my teeth with it (it only eased the pain in this case, but it made it bareble)

Sometimes you just have to try a different doctor. Any doctor who refuses to provide opioids for legitimate pain is someone who clearly doesn't care about your well-being.

I hear that but here in Arizona my doctor even told me he has the DEA breathing all over him and they wanted explanations for each refill and he says its getting nearly impossible to treat his patients. The hysteria has gotten out of control and is leaving alot of people in alot of pain.

Actually I'm not asking for medical advice. I'm simply asking what others in a similar situation have done to stop the pain of a pinched nerve. I ask this because everything I've tried from my doctor and even my nurse relatives hasn't worked. The only thing that has helped at all was the shot of morphine I was given at the ER last Saturday night.

I'll be sure to take myself out on your lawn then, since you won't mind the pain of dealing with my corpse that was tired of being in pain.

Man, some people have zero empathy. Must be why they don't care about pain.

Right, and that shitty NSAID painkiller isn't working. Other NSAID painkillers are unlikely to work as well. Next?
