Then you read the wrong spoilers.
To touch upon a few minor things
1) Re:Zero is not anywhere near Torture porn at all.
2) Subaru's attachment to Emilia is partially a mental coping measure. He was thrown into an alternate world with absolutely no knowledge of anything and no way to survive. Then, there's this attractive girl that is willing to help him out. It's more than just "lust", it's a survival instinct to a degree too.
3) You really, REALLY should watch the rest and form your own opinion. Subaru is intentionally set up the way he is at the start.

Faye returning to her old home and seeing its absence; as Neichus so accurately worded: it's poignant, tangible loss. Faye and Spike's conversation before leaving the Bebop prior to the final confrontation was great, too. I think that's a commonality the characters share. The Bebop became their home for whatever reason(s) they had. The takes on existentialism and memory were cool as well. Spike's pursuit for closure, love for his woman and inability to forget about Vicious was his downfall imo.
I don't have a ton to say, I'm still digesting the show.
Not sure how I feel about that latest Masamune Kun no Revenge Chapter. I guess it could be viewed as a positive in that the author isn't going the cookie cutter route.
Best anime.
Don't sweat the details!!!
