Legion didn't need a standalone trademark, because the word Legion can't be trademarked. Nobody could have stolen it hours before the announcement.

They did submit World of Warcraft: Legion the day after the announcement or so.

They don't use premade typographies. They are customized based off their initial template. You can compare the duplicate letters to each expansion; like the "A", and see how they differentiate. While your "few tweaks" are changing the colors

Actually I had every letter on its own layer, placed so that the words would line up properly. This is what it would've looked like if I simply typed the words using Burning Wrath:
