How desperate Blizz have become. Obviously subs dropped badly.
Now they will sell Call of duty skins for wow.

This is true of private servers however i'd be shocked if these ones didn't have:
Updated UI features
Support for addons because it's still a modern client
Complete quest chains
Drop rates fixed/corrected so they aren't a 3 level grind for a Loch Modan slime bag
Bugs fixed
NPCs and escort quests fixed
Respawn rates tweaked to be just right
Not even a big vanilla fan but if they do it right i'd probably play this with friends in addition to live.
People have been playing on illegal Vanilla servers for years, on servers with bad performance, low population and that are at risk of getting shut down at any point. I think we'll see people playing on them for quite some time.
Soo.... one more thing to add to the list of "things Blizzard would never do... until they do"
1. Flying on Azeroth
2. Pandaren
3. Demon Hunter
Newest Entries
4. High Elves for Alliance
5. Vanilla servers
Next up: Naga
I wouldnt get too excited until we find out what version of classic Blizzard wants.
But...yay! at least now we can finally talk about this like adults!
and for the love of God! - most of the vanilla players, incl me - dont say that legion or whatever is BAD, or vanilla BETTER. its different, and whats most important - its not playabe legally.
Do you laugh at people playing Diablo 2 that they are delusional and should play D3? no. So understand finally what vanilla means.
Never, but never expected this to happen, hyped AF
really depends on how its handled, it took me a while to get full devout but not that long really, today ppl will blow through that old content because the main difference between then and now is that everyone isn't really a noob any more. you have much less abilities to press, boss encounters were much more simplistic. sure when ppl were all clickers and keyboard turners the game was hard, I didn't even start using keybinds until i'd got to Ragnaros for the first time and realised i needed to press my buttons a bit faster..
zg was quite challenging with a full blue group, at least the first few times, i doubt it'll be as hard as it was initially. when your not carrying 3-5 ppl. likewise molten core with 40 ppl who know what they are doing, not 20 ppl who are good and 20 ppl who just about know how to turn on a pc.

I would say I'm looking forward to people not whining about it anymore. But what's going to happen is people will start complaining about it when they realize how primitive it is.
I'm a crazy taco.
In other words, nothing new for Blizzard since that's pretty much how their past few expansions have been.
Considering they've constantly said they lost the code to the old version, I'd say it has to be with the new textures, models, etc.
That's how I look at it too. If it gets more people in the game, then it was worth it, simple as that. The more subs = more money = WoW lasting longer in some form or another. If WoW ever stops becoming profitable or God forbid costs them money, they'd slowly start closing it down. That's just business fact.

I did not see this coming either. I know one thing, Panzer is going to to be absolutely livid.
all the people saying it will fail and rose tinted spec etc are wrong, they are the same geniuses that said it will never happen.
You underestimate how passionate those of us that love classic WoW are, they will succeed, despite how much you wish for them to fail, and then we can laugh again at how wrong you are
It is nice that they took advice from the community and kudos to the community for pushing this and having a voice. But you're going to play it for maximum of 3 months, then you'll get bored and start raging on the forums.
There's tree ways I can see them going about Classic WoW
#1 They release it on a late patch just before TBC
#2 They stagger the release of patches mimicing how original WoW played out
#3 They release it on a late patch but lock content following a release schedule (Would take a stupid amount of work, Probably introducing phasing to keep things in order till content is released
Highly doubtful that #3 will be what happens, So that leaves the others.. After the content is brought up to that end patch there wouldn't be anymore "content" patches to support, Probably only bugfixes etc.
What I'm curious about is...
1: Will they have updated models or not? Leaning on not.
2: Will they balance things out? Because some things were just... yeah. As much as people complain about Retribution Paladins in Legion, Vanilla was THE worst for them to the point they weren't even really wanted anywhere. Pretty sure this was the case for some other specs out there.
Still, at least they get proper class fantasy. >_>'

I got more than enough classic during classic. I'll pass.
It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.
Also, it's should HAVE. NOT "should of". "Should of" doesn't even make sense. If you think you should own a cat, do you say "I should of a cat" or "I should have a cat"? Do you HAVE cats, or do you OF cats?
I'm speaking for myself here, but I'm fairly positive there's plenty of people thinking just like me:
The world (talking IRL now) is going to shit, so much has changed in the last 15 or so years, it's just too much for an individual to handle. What you have left is reminiscing of your teenage years when everything was simpler. No feminists trying to push incompetent women into high ranking positions everywhere, no one to call you racist if you as much as sneezed in the general direction of anyone not white, the list goes on. I'm assuming the majority of active WoW players are just like me, white males in their thirties. Seeing the society turn against them in every possible manner. What these guys were doing in their teenage years was playing Vanilla WoW, some of them joined in late, so they missed all its (bugged, imbalanced) glory. Considering there isn't too much hope for them in the future, all they have to is turning to their past. And Vanilla WoW is certainly part of that past, giving the classic servers quite a bit of potential playerbase. Also, having a fairly grindy content available, it will give everyone fed up with the current xpac a while to burn their time on instead of endlessly grinding the final raid tier of the xpac for more than a year. win win situation tbh
