They have not yet announced any even remote details about the game state they are going to implement. So, hold your horses.
Jajaja, of course. We have no details at all. It is fun though, to reminisce, and to speculate on how(or if) they will wield their hindsight in what will basically be a restart of 13 years of game growth.
Will they make it an AU type of game with the story going down different routes?
Will they maintain a “Purist” standpoint and implement everything, the bad and the good?
Or will they wield that hindsight and improve upon the experience? (Basically relaunch WoW with 13+ years of missteps and successes to improve the experience). This i think is the most likely course of action, though a tight line will have to be walked to try and maintain the original experience.

I wasnt even thinking strategically. I was thinking about the actual patch state they plan to recreate. And if they are able to. Or maybe it will be like an official WoW emulation, with old numbers hacked into the up-to-date engine.
I highly HIGHLY doubt that they will be messing with what vanilla "was" at all, else there's virtually no point in this.

Uh, yeah. But that’s classic. Period.

mind control hat and getting people killed by flight masters and/or other npcs was always a great cheap laugh
Elysian, a classic private server, has plenty of players who would disagree, including myself.
*gasp* some people like things other than what the mighty entitled elfporn likes!? No!

don't be a dbag dude. I played back during classic and recall clearly how much better we have it now. And i'm not talking about talents, rotations etc. The game itself, the mechanics, the engine, actual combat play, it all is vastly improved over the initial release of this 13 year old game. If you believe otherwise, you're an idiot.
It was even greatly improved in TBC and wotlk. Classic was amazing in its time, but it wasn't perfect, not even close.
I'd also like to note that this isn't some illegal home project trying to fly under the radar and avoid a cease and desist order - It's the owners of the damn IP - they have the power and knowhow to make any changes they want

Thats true, but when you knew when! to use your insignia for example you could turn it around. Ofc the fact that i played spellpower Hunter helped a lot. Keep poison up, kite them to the end of the world and so on. And a critical Arcane shot with trinket up wich hit for more than the entire lifepool of the rogue was surely a way to end a fight swiftlynearly all classes were defeatable naked with a white dagger in main hand
I am sooooo happy to have to farm for my poisons, having them limited to 100 charges/procs and disappearing each time I was changing territory or entering a dungeon...
There were also reagents for Vanish and Blind. Farming hard to loot a fast offhand sword and very slow main hand one and spam SS and SnD for my cycle... Evicerate only on hollidays or during the 6 minute cooldown of AR
Vanish immune was super fun though, kind of magic Cloak of shadow before it was added to the class. Blade flury was a 2 minutes CD that increased attack speed by 20% and hit a second target. I missed those two last points, not the other ones at all !

Combat daggers and Combat swords were dope, but hands down the best build was in 1.12 when you had a good amount of T2.5 and T3 and could run the seal fate build in PvE and PvP. 30/8/13 was insane, and good old 30/21/0 (when you had an insane amount of crit, close to 40%+). All the different builds were pretty crazy, there was truly a lot of options that rogues could use to increase their dps.
TBC you were pretty shoe horned into combat swords due to how good combat potency was, but in sunwell Hemo was pretty solid for one of the rogues to run to buff the melee.

They already said they wont be doing that, its the only thing theyve said about it, is the fact that theyre going to make it as close to vanilla as possible. There will be no flex, no QoL changes, Flasks will be insane to farm, classes wont be balanced, and people are going to cry about how bad it is lmao.
Disagree with the fact that "classic" is not a static game state? Like Summoning Stones in front of Dungeons, they were added with patch 1.3. Are they classic? Or Naxxramas(the original)? There are lots of other questions, so no, classic is not a fixed point in time.
Yays: Stun locks, thistle tea, Ambush backstab, lockpicking
Nays: Sap big, vanish issues, reagents requirements
