3 options for new WoW only build

Since WoW uses 1 core to 100% before adding another core, per core speed is very important to get the best performance. Thanks so several good people in another post I have the basis for comparison on whether the i5-7600k or the i7-7700k or the i3-8350k would be the best for WoW (no I don't play any other games) and some small transcoding of mpeg2 to h264 (usually done with intel quick sync video since its just over-the-air tv shows that get deleted as soon as watched)

    OPTION 1:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

    CPU: Intel - Core i5-7600K 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor ($199.89 @ Amazon)

They’re honestly all viable, and if wow is the only game that you play, requirements are low so you’ll be fine with either

The 8350k would be the cheapest, and tbh may actually perform better than the others in Wow (but only in Wow).

What settings and framerate do you think you'd get with those builds? I'm also in the market for a new computer. Wow is pretty much the only game I play on pc.

8350k build. Others are old technology. If you want more cores, get a i5-8600k chip instead of the 8350k

Go with the best CPU you can afford. WoW is much more reliant on that, than on your GPU.
Appreciate your time with friends and family while they're here. Don't wait until they're gone to tell them what they mean to you.

Which of the 3 do you consider the best cpu?

I'd get the 8350K/Z370 build if all you're playing is WoW atm. Get faster memory if the price is right. The upside is that it has an upgrade path for later on. Also, pick a better mainboard - not that one with the crappy 3-phase VRM.

The 7700k is technically the "best", but most of the things that make it the best don't apply in Wow. If you bought it just for Wow alone it would honestly be a waste of money.

What matters most here is clock speed, and even if you aren't going to overclock it the 7700k's extra 0.2GHz over the 8350k is not worth paying another $100 for. If you do want to overlock it the 8350k can go higher on a cheap cooler than the 7700k will.

The 8350k is going to be the best for you.

To be honest I do not understand 3 phase VRM, there is an image here that might be what you mean but not sure: https://d1rktuf34l9h2g.cloudfront.ne...lineup-WIP.png

If that is not it can you give me a little more information so I can research this.

Found this in one of the post not sure if it has the information you thought i needed to consider:

    uP9508: 3*2(vcore doubler)+2 vrm, not great.

Anyway, as that table plainly puts it, most of the MSI and Gigabyte boards (at least the low-mid range) are a no go in quality for this generation.
pcpartpicker says the ASrock Z370 Extreme4, a great midrange board is currently $125 at newegg.

Just for example right now newegg has these bundles:
    Intel Core i3-8350K Coffee Lake Quad-Core 4.0 GHz LGA 1151 (300 Series) 91W BX80684I38350K Desktop Processor Intel UHD Graphics 630 (Model:BX80684I38350K)
    ASRock Z370 Killer SLI/ac LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard (Model:Z370 Killer SLI/ac)

    Intel Core i3-8350K Coffee Lake Quad-Core 4.0 GHz LGA 1151 (300 Series) 91W BX80684I38350K Desktop Processor Intel UHD Graphics 630 (Model:BX80684I38350K)
MSI Z370 TOMAHAWK LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard (Model:Z370 TOMAHAWK)

    Intel Core i3-8350K Coffee Lake Quad-Core 4.0 GHz LGA 1151 (300 Series) 91W BX80684I38350K Desktop Processor Intel UHD Graphics 630 (Model:BX80684I38350K)
MSI Z370 SLI PLUS LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard (Model:Z370 SLI PLUS)

They are all about the same price 279-289, the asrock killer is right at entry, the msi tomehawk is right at entry, and the msi sli plus is high entry/low midrange (not sure about the phases in red type being 8x really since its says 4 PWM phases & uP1962 and I assume i might be better off with something that was just straight 8x yeah - not sure why it is written that way). Any of these worth it? Last one I built was 5 years had more money back then for WoW and got a asrock z77 extreme4.

@Hextor thanks for all the help, things certainly have changes in last 5 years many more choices now and thanks a lot for getting me an easier to understand list/chart that allows me to see some kind of ranking of the boards.

PS why doesn/t microcenter carry the i3-8350k wish they did would give me more options for bundles at least.

personally i would try to get a i5-8400 instead of the 8350k, more cores/more cache will beat the overclocks on the 8350, and it's only 10$ more if you can find it in stock. also i would go the distance on the ram and get it up to 3200mhz (which should only be 20$ more) instead of 2800mhz theres been reviews of 5fps difference between the 2 in most games(not sure if same will reflect in wow). you may want to check ebay for your video card I've been seeing some pretty cheap 1070s on there, 1060s prices are a bit inflated atm due to their efficiency with eth mining.
