Gambling is against the law for minors because their brain hasnt developed fully to understand what it is. Nothing wrong with looking out for people being abused.

Censorship is where I draw the line. We have age ratings for a reason.

And I dont buy the argument "its not gambling you still get an item" yes but that item can vary in monetary worth through selling your account for that rare cosmetic so the very nature of random rewards is gambling even when the rewards vary in worth. Its just a very lawyer way around a technicality. Just like saying "Dont buy the chocolate bars at the supermarket" some people are unable of making rational decisions and explotivie business practices have needed to be stamped out since the snake oil salesman

They already can and do. Parasite Eve 2 released in the UK but Parasite Eve did not because it showed a scene in a sperm bank and in the UK that was a hard no instead of an adult rating. Similar case with Rule or Rose and plenty of countries edit or ban games for reasons like nudity, "promoting homosexuality" in middle eastern countries and in a less extreme example all the resident evil games -games made in japan- have toned down gore and violence for the domestic release.

I can understand people worrying but some of the people going "first muh games, next muh guns!" you see online dont seem to know any videogame history or that this shit goes on already with content not just mechanics.

People have gotten this idea in their heads that $60 USD (or whatever the equivalent is locally) is "full price for a game", and that magically entitles you to everything the game might contain.

That idea has no basis in reality. There is no market position that set that price and guaranteed full access to all content at that price point. There was never any obligation that developers never provide content above and beyond that price, for additional payment. It makes as much sense as an argument as claiming that paying the base price for, say, a hamburger entitles you to extra bacon. The hamburger was $3. The extra bacon is $0.50. Your $3 doesn't entitle you to bacon. That the company might previously have never offered bacon, but now does, does not mean that bacon should automatically be included. It's an argument that nobody makes regarding any other segment of the marketplace, and it's absolutely absurd that it's cropped up in video gaming with this much popular support.

I'm not even arguing this is "good business", or that it's what's "best for the customer". I'm not silly enough to do that. I've made it clear across plenty of political threads in GenOT that I generally lean socialist, politically; I'm not going to defend the merits of capitalist economics, here.

But I am going to underscore that this is business as usual, and isn't in any way dishonest, isn't unfair. Some customers (emphasis on some) might not like it, but they're free to take their business elsewhere. They don't get to try and claim the company's doing them some harm by offering a different pricing plan than they'd prefer. My cell phone company had a Tab system, where you pay off your initial phone purchase monthly, and then it accumulates into a "tab" you can spend on new phones. The company's changed that process since I joined, and while my Tab is grandfathered into a default discount, if I use it for a new phone, I'm obligated to get a new plan and the new system, unless I pay full price out of pocket. This might mean I leave for another phone provider. That's my right; I'm not under contract. It's not my right to claim that they're being "unfair" to me. They announced this policy change ahead of time, and my old system was grandfathered until I make a change to it.

If I don't like that, I'm free to go elsewhere. I'm not free to slander the company and claim I'm being mistreated because their pricing plan is no longer what I prefer. And if everyone else has similarly "bad" plans in my eyes, then I'm going to have to suck it up and make a choice; the market has shifted. As it is wont to do.

Microtransactions and particularly lootboxes are popular systems. If they weren't, people wouldn't pay into them so consistently, resulting in such profits that companies have increasingly found ways to meet that demand. If you aren't part of that demand, fine, but that's not reason to insult everyone else who does enjoy them. Especially not when your position is an entirely baseless and arbitrary concept of a "full price" that you've imagined up in your own head, and which does not exist in reality. In reality, that's the "price for the base game", and the microtransactions are clearly marked as extra. You want that extra bacon, you know the price it'll cost you. Or you can decide you don't like bacon that much. And if you don't want anyone to have bacon, well, tough. You can just choose to not have any. That's fine.

There's no "company line", here. I don't work for Curse, or any game development company. This is entirely my own viewpoint.

You're demanding that charging extra for bacon is "wrong", and you don't want bacon to be an option. And you don't care how many people like bacon and don't mind paying extra for it. And won't accept that you can just not get the extra bacon, if you don't like it.

When dealing with a game with extra purchases, the entry price is not the "full price". It's the "base price". That's where the disconnect lies.

Hi guys ! I always was moderately interested in Destiny, and now, with the free trial, I already downloaded it for my PS4 and I'm ready to give it a try.

I haven't played Destiny 1, so I just want to know if I need to know something about the story to get into Destiny 2. BTW I keep reading that the story is terrible, so, is it? I don't need much, I mean WoW has a rich lore but the way in which they tell the story in the game is usually pretty bad, but I enjoy it nonetheless ! So if Destiny's story is in that level I will be very happy.

I'm not a very FPS gamer, but I enjoyed Overwatch and BF1 (especially when played with friends), so what can I expect of Destiny 2? is a Diablo 3 FPS? a WoW FPS?

Nope they ignored 90% of the lore in Destiny 1, Consider Destiny 2 as a reboot to the series.

Think of Destiny as Diablo but with guns and worse loot.

With that said the leveling experience and story in D2 was quite enjoyable IMO.

Thank you ! I'm excited to try it ! BTW, I know that there are 3 classes, are they very different? I mean my idea right now is that there is a tank, an assault and something like a caster? Can I be something among the lines of a WoW mage?

Np and nope don't think of them in the normal roles as Tank/Healer/Dps. There is no true trinity system in Destiny.

I recommend watching a class rundown on youtube to see what may fit your playstyle. Personally I love the Warlock and his utility is great in Voidwalker spec.

The classes are pretty similar, 90% of the game is shooting with guns which pretty much is identical across all specs.
The major difference between the classes are the way they jump, which makes a huge difference in several encounters. Just try them out to find what suits you most.

Adding a trial after the sale ends, too bad might have bought it on sale.

Definitely not worth the 60 euros full price.

Damn all classes and subclasses look pretty cool. I'm going with the Hunter though, he looks cooler than the rest with that weird electric staff or with the voidbow.

Currently the hunter is not the strongest of the 3 classes. I'm not saying they are weak, they just are a little lacking compared to the others.

But if you aren't playing to maximize your effectiveness (Casually), then a hunter is a really fun class to play as.

As a fellow player, who didnt played Destiny 1 or even know anything about the game, other than we are space jedi i was pleasantly suprised by the info we are getting.

Destiny 2 story is self contained - it focus on certain event caused by certain infividuals and we get enough context and exposition for the story. We also get little info about every race we encounter. Enough to know one is "space devil" and another is "destiny borg".

There is much more lore about the universe and i encourage you to dig it if you want. If you start poking you will find some questionable actions.

Game is looter-shooter - you kill baddies, which drop gear, which lets you kill baddies better, which then drop more loot... etc. Game has THE BEST shooting mechanics in the industry, you will enjoy shooting just for the shooting sake.
Also, if you enjoyed Overwatch then i dare to say you will enojoy pvp here - as a game with stats, loot, different perks it is suprisingly balanced and very fun. Meta currently is supporting hunting parties instead of lone wolf aproach. Still, playing pure soloq i have mine fare share of fun, and most matches are super tight.

Each class has 3 specs, each spec got 2 passive "blocks" which you can choose one of. Each class also got basic "class skill" which is the same no matter the spec, but passives can slightly alter it - like Stormcaller which gives Ball which will shoot baddies if you stand go in his healing zone (warlock skill). Each spec also get "super" power which, as name suggest, is more or less screen cleaner. So yeah, there is lot to choose from but you dont feel overwhelmed by it.

Game is currently overflowing with content, but sad truth is that not enough content give good rewards after certain ilvl treshold - power in this game. Gearing at the end game can also be confusing but it is more of dilemma - what you should be doing to get more ilvl.

If you would like it i encourage you to download two destiny apps on your phone - one make sorting of items on your character and in your bank a breeze and second one is glorified LFG tool. Why they are not in the base game is beyond me, i hope both will be introduced in "qol" patch that should go in about a week.

Currently the hunter is not the strongest of the 3 classes. I'm not saying they are weak, they just are a little lacking compared to the others.

But if you aren't playing to maximize your effectiveness (Casually), then a hunter is a really fun class to play as.

Thank you for such detailed response ! I just played until I regained my 'light', then I traveled to Europe, where I got a bit lost, but I guess that is just a matter of play more.

Questions:

- That Europe zone is an open world zone? It could be something like a WoW zone? It seemed to me that enemies respawned constantly. BTW I saw some players in it, is there a limit of players per zone or how it works?

- Should I buy equipment in the city in the countryside? Or just wait to loot it? Shall I break / sell every item of lower IL?

- I'm a bit confused about how weapons works, because it seemed to me that when I equipped one it changed the others. I had something like a pistol and a rifle and when I changed it I had like two revolvers.

- How can I change specs? Because at the beginning I had a fire revolver as a special attack and now I have a lighting spear (which is pretty cool).

- Do enemies scale with your level?

- It looks to me that I move at a slow pace (even running), does that gets better? Or it might be that I'm used to BF1 where it seems that I move faster?

***This is called a Patrol Zone, which is an shared world zone.***

***It is not forbidden to buy greens from vendors, but it isn't necessary for the most part. Also, do not turn in tokens to vendors, you will not receive the reward until level 20. ***

***You have 3 weapon slots (Press Start to see your inventory). Kinetic, Energy, and Power weapons. Kinetic gets a crit bonus when shooting an enemies weapon spot. Energy Weapons will do increased damage to an enemies shields. If you match the element that their shield is composed of, it will do a burst of damage when the shields are depleted. Power Weapons are the heavy hitters such as rockets, fusion rifles, and shotguns, etc.

If I am correct, during the initial beginning of the game, it will switch your weapons up for you, but that will stop once you have complete control of your character (Basically where you are currently in the game)***

***You will need to unlock your other two subclasses. You should receive a quest from doing public events in order to unlock the Gunslinger and Nightstalker. ***

Yea I think I’m done with destiny.....very timid to buy the season pass. They need to address the serious lack of meaningful content this game has. The new wing in the raid better be more boss fights and less puzzles too. As a whole they’re making the same mistakes they made with destiny 1.....which is honestly inexcusable.

Hold off until the Blog Post which should be released today. They cancelled the Curse of Osiris loot stream today to instead address issues the community has been very vocal about.

Not saying I think it will change your mind or that it should, just that it might be worth hearing them out first.
