    British, Britons & Brits!

Just a reminder because it still irks me that people still don't understand:

Ireland - Country - Irish people.
Scotland - Country - Scottish people
England - Country - English people
Wales - Country - Welsh people

The United Kingdom (UK) - A nation made up of N.Ireland, Scotland, Wales & England.
Britain - an island - British people (Britons)

E.g. People in Scotland are not English they're Scottish and British

I wouldn't waste your time. Britain will always be "England" to most Americans and such.

    From, not in.

I’ve been to Scotland, it didn’t give me a sudden desire to eat shortbread and potato scones.

What about all the Americans who say they're Irish, Italian, Scottish, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Polish, or whatever, just because their parents, grandparents or even someone way further up the line was from that country at some point, even though they themselves were born and raised in the US, and have never even visited the country whose nationality they're claiming?

    They're desperate for an identity

    "Oh you're English"
    "Yes"
    "My great grandma was English!"
    "And?"

They’d be Americans. You kind of answered that yourself.

Their nationalities would be American, ethnically they would be whatever country their ancestors immigrated from (assuming the emigrants were Indigenous or a long standing people from that country).

My nationality is American, but I'm of mixed Southern Italian and Afro-Jamaican ethnicities.

If you haven’t got British Citizenship, then you’re not British. Your ethnicity might be British-American, but you wouldn’t be British.

It’s more to do with them shovelling food into their mouths and applying make up with a trowel.
