And that's why he's sentenced to prison. But certainly not sentenced to being raped.

That's the difference between justice and revenge. It's obviously human to want revenge, especially with how this officer was assaulted. But he is also a cop, even if he truely hope for bad things to happen to him, he should at least know better than taunting him in the court.

Police officers are hold to a higher standard than civilian. They represent the autorithy of the state. Period. If that's too much for you to handle do something else. I understand that nowadays police work is usually seen as a shit job in the US, and the recruitement standard sadly have to be lowered to meet the needed numbers. That's sad.

And I have a brother in the police. Even if thankfully the risk of being shot is way lower in Switzerland.

Meh. Police brutality and unwarranted shootings I can discuss back and forth on; but off-handed comment to a prisoner, especially in this scenario, again meh.

At best, get his superior to tell him was wrong and that he likely shouldn't continue such behaviour.

Perhaps it was unprofessional, but I reckon he's been punished enough. The fellow was shot 3 times by this dude.

Yes its unprofessional. Yes prison rape is a serious issue.

At the same time, the shooter shot at his kid as well, so I really don't hold anything against the cop.

The cop suffered life-changing injuries by being shot in the face in front of his son, and all you can do is criticise the cop and not utter a word against the criminal scumbag that shot the cop. You should be ashamed of yourself.

no it paints him as human, not an emotionless robot, if someone shot up your whole family and you did nothing because of the job, then the job isn't worth shit time to replace people with judge dredd robots that execute criminals on sight, because robots can be emotionless 100% of the time and thats what you want.

Yeah. I'm going to join the choir of "He should probably get a reprimand for doing it in court. Otherwise, fuck the guy that shot him in the face".

The problem being that with the LULZ, rape in prison for ''bad guys'' punish certainly child molesters (which is something, I grant it), but certainly not gang members and violent felons.

Who do you think they rape in prisons ? Hulking gang members that have long sentences or teenagers that were sent there to show how tough the judge is ?

Milhouse: I can't go to juvie! They use guys like me as currency!
Chief Wiggum: Yeah, they'll pass you around like... like currency, like you said.

Not at all, it was justified and I would have done the same thing.

Cops need to stop being so trigger happy, but that does not mean that they need to give up their sense of humor.

People make extremely passive aggressive and aggressive posts here, to each other, without having ever met face to face, and simply over words or beliefs...not from shooting each other.

LOL @ these pillars of morality that would dutifully wave good-bye to their shooter, hoping their "rehabilitation" goes well.

He's going to prison what more needs to be said

I feel like he should be fired for such a comment. The judicial system will hand down an appropriate punishment for the perpetrator's crime, one that does not include repeated rape. It is not the officer's right or privilege to suggest inhumane treatment or conditions. This is still a human being.

This "human being" viciously shot a man 3 times with the intent to kill him and he got off with life in prison and a rape joke. Sorry if I don't weep for what this piece of trashes decisions afforded him.

He should get a warning and a pat on the back, fuck the dude who shot the officer. Boo hoo that a guy who survived being shot 3 times decided to make a mean joke at the guy who shot him. This is the human being who got shot getting the last laugh. I have no sympathy for the attempted murderer.

ITT SJWs take the criminal's side because we should be trying to "rehabilitate" someone serving a life sentence who attempted murder and prison rape isn't "tasteful humor". More hurt fee-fees at 11.

I'm sure you are correct-but it is really sad there is any dissent between pro and anti-feminists on this issue. You'd think everyone could just agree rape is a bad thing.

I don't have sympathy for the perpetrator but I do find the whole prison rape culture appalling.

Also the cop should probably show more professionalism, but I suppose no one is perfect.
