I don't blame them. The cheap Nike shoes you are wearing (yes you reading this) are made possible by these people living under horrible conditions of poverty and exploitation.

*snort*
This forum is becoming a gathering of crazies pushing their agendas daily whatever it might be.
Mint Press currently claims five staff writers and three paid writing interns; an editor-in-training; two “contributors”; and a New York correspondent, Lisa Barron, a veteran journalist who spent fourteen months covering the Iraq war for CBS.

Shortly after the site’s launch this January, fellow Minneapolis-based news organization MinnPost profiled Mnar Muhawesh, the site’s 25-year-old founder, executive director, and editor. The St. Cloud State broadcast journalism graduate worked in local television and as a freelancer, but says she soon realized she knew enough to put together her own team.
While many relatively small-scale news startups focus on local reporting, Muhawesh–a born-and-raised Minnesotan, “as Minnesotan as you get,” she explains–had national and even international ambitions. The daughter of Palestinian immigrants, she grew up in a household that paid close attention to both national and international affairs, and wanted to contribute to the national conversation with a site that she hoped would help bring the outside world to the attention of American readers.
“Our media has failed us very miserably,” Muhawesh says, citing uninformed public debates around issues like Iran’s nuclear capabilities or intervention in Syria. “We are in a crucial time in American history where most Americans don’t know what’s going on in the world around them.”
The American public’s lack of interest in many international issues is perennial and oft-cited, but Muhawesh believes she can make headway with an analytic approach to geopolitical relationships, particularly between the United Sates and the Middle East, as well as a sustained commitment to following up on stories that would otherwise only get attention as breaking news.

It's ran by a 25 year old? Interesting.

-- Capt. Copeland
Reminds me of a visit to one of China electronics factories, 12 hour shifts 6 days a week, 2 shifts, so factory never stops and a manager I spoke to proudly declaring that they work 7th day too if directive comes.
Workers are living on premises and pay rent for that, they are not allowed to get married and stay, they can do so and move to live elsewhere if they don't mind multi-hours trips to workplace.
Higher education is "free", but works by quotas, as my China friends told me 200 applicants per place in Uni/College is a standard thing. 199 remaining guys and gals are out of luck, guys/girls to the factory, their home village in the middle of nowhere or army (because army offers guaranteed government employment), some of the girls go to underground "message" parlors which you have plenty. It's illegal of course, but usually ran or tied to some hick in government so they have protection.
Heck you can't even live in major cities unless you have permit.
But hey, they gots socialism bois!

You know what else China has? A GDP projected to overtake USA by year 2050. Turns out capitalism wont be the big kid on the block much longer. At that time US citizens become the people that work 12 hours days 7-6 days a week to make electronics for Chinese people.
Boy karma is a bitch.

Okay, then.
If you hate America so much, leave and go to China. Enough with the nation bashing threads already. Nobody wants to hear your communist rhetoric as communism has shown to be an even worse failure and abomination than capitalism. At least with capitalism, you get to earn stuff that you can keep and not have to give to the glorious motherland.
when all else fails, read the STICKIES.
Wonder how many more millions Chinese will need to die for that or be literal slaves to the government. After that factory, I don't have any fantasies about how communism works.
You think USA is a bastion of inequality? China has it beat by far and in 2050 nothing will change - the party big cahunas will get richer and richer from all the girls they prostitute and factories they run, while the simple people will keep being burned as fuel for that, just like now. China is classic communism - everyone is equal, but there are those at the top who equal much more.
As for me, I don't give a damn, I needed that factory to make shit for my company and it did so and as a bonus message parlors were great too! Karma? Probably by the time 2050 comes I'll be growing tomatoes in a garden in some house in Whateverville to which I will retire and won't give a damn about that.
That's of course if humanity won't devour itself by then, which it may do.
A quasi capitalist "communist" country with four times as many people is projected to over take us?!!? in 1/3 of a century?!?! WHY HAVE WE NOT STARTED NATIONALIZING ALL OF OUR INDUSTRIES ALREADY?! But in all seriousness China will still be a peasant country compared to the US unless their gdp per capita catches up as well.
Edit: which if you do the math would require them to not just overtake our gdp but quadruple it, which will probably take a little longer than 2050. Maybe they should set a target date of matching US on that by 2500.

I don't wear Nike's.
https://nisolo.com fair trade, made in Peru
http://www.veja-store.com made in France
https://www.elganso.com/es/ Spanish brand made in Portugal.
For running shoes.
https://www.nativeshoes.com Canadian brand
https://thepeoplesmovement.com US brand
A lot of these companies offer shoes at competitive prices with brands like Nike, but also often offer better quality and design, not taking into account their better business practices.
I think this covers what I think about this...

Claiming China isn't capitalist is pure retardation. Worse, Chinese capitalism is virulently vicious and exploitative form of crony capitalism.
The thing is that once China's GDP does overtake the U.S., then it can starting exerting its influence all over the world. You knows those 900+ U.S. military bases all over the world? Now imagine all those becoming Chinese instead. China will be the one imposing sanctions and embargos on the U.S. unless it complies with China favored trade deals.
