I mean, we know Alabama is a basket of deplorables.

We've seen every defense from "Jesus was falsely accused too!" to "Mary was a child when she married Joseph, and 50 years ago marrying a 14 year old was no big deal anyway!"

At this point we know they don't care that they're electing a child rapist who has on the record been both a bigot and a racist, who was removed from court positions because he defied laws and court orders.

In Jesusland, a criminal is better than a Democrat.
2014 Gamergate: "If you want games without hyper sexualized female characters and representation, then learn to code!"
2023: "What's with all these massively successful games with ugly (realistic) women? How could this have happened?!"

What Hillary did was morally repugnant. It was also illegal in most states by that time and is illegal everywhere today. So she KNEW what she was doing morally heinous, but she did anyway. That it was her job DOES NOT justify it.

This matters. For all his faults Obama's moral character BEFORE he became president was generally impeccable, what he did after is another matter but he was a morally upstanding guy that entire generations of black people can and WILL look up.

The person who becomes the first female president cannot and should not be anything else then a morally upstanding person.
The first women president must be a saint, but the current one well who cares if he's a pos since hes a guy (and a republican) what an amazing double standard. Of all clintion's faults, doing her legal responsibility as lawyer representing her client is not even worth mentioning

Yeah I don’t get nyt big gap. I’m watching it too and it’s rather interesting that Mobile went blue where last year it was heavily red.

If Dallas county goes blue then Jones has a good chance.

I'm pretty certain Moore's going to win still, but I'm just waiting to hear the Trumpsters scream about their glorious win and all of their celebration... completely oblivious to it being "Look guys, we just shot ourselves in the face! Neener neener neener, told you we could do it!"

It's going to be glorious indeed.

Did something big just happen or a large number of votes just come in? Jones chance of winning jumped nearly 10% on NYT (was at 72% and slowly beginning to trend down again) and 538 gap is down to 2%.

    Edit:

    538:
    Moore - 49.2%
    Jones - 47.9%

That's far closer than I was expecting.

Roy Moore leads by 2.5 percentage points over Doug Jones with 75 percent of precincts fully reporting.

    I think a county flipped...

Nyt still has it on jones but the scoreboard shows Moore leading by 2.5 or 50 to 48

The big democratic leaning counties are rolling in now. Virtually all the republican counties are done so who wins all comes down to how much of an advantage Jones can rack up in those dem leaning counties.

That was very damaging for that to come out. For people who don't pay close attention to these issues the way everyone here does, it'll come off as, "She lied about it" or "I knew it was a set-up", or some other low-information sentiment.

    It's a shame, too.

They are now tied at 49% each.

538 has Jones down by less than 1,000 votes. This is crazy (to me at least).

Right now, most of the unreported precincts are in the major city counties. Jefferson (Birmingham), Mobile (um...Mobile), Madison (Huntsville), Montgomery, and maybe Tuscaloosa. So it could very well swing in favor of Jones.

So what happens if Moore does lose tonight? How will Bannon — who’s waging a self-professed “war” against the GOP and who went whole hog for Moore — respond?

According to Reuters, Bannon’s people are planning on casting the blame on Mitch McConnell. If Moore loses, they’ll say the majority leader didn’t do enough to help him win. Something tells me McConnell is OK with that spin.

Haven't a lot of the democrat-leading counties not reported in yet? I don't know Alabama at all. I lived there when I was 6-8, but never left the military base (Ft Rucker). So I know nothing about the state.

  18. #218
The fact that this race is this close in what is normally a deep red state should worry the GOP.

    - - - Updated - - -

Roy Moore leads by 0.9 percentage points over Doug Jones with 81 percent of precincts fully reporting.

    I gotta laugh at this

Honestly, I know virtually nothing about Alabama or this race (I assumed Moore was a sure win) and wouldn't be comfortable saying either way.

I've been watching this interactive map though:
