So the news of the night isn't that he lost. The news should be how close it was and how many people are just irredemable something like 48-49% of alabamans voting for someone who is almost certainly guilty of sexual abuse.

This is true but the black/white voting breakdown is pretty staggering. I'd like to think this was a positive sign of people coming together for the common good but when you break it down by demographics, it sort of only further solidifies the current divide in the country.

I'm sure a lot of people look at it like this. "His allegations were from 30-40 years ago. If he loses the democrats will have a better position in the Senate and do things I don't want." That is what happens when all democrats vote one way and republicans all vote another.
That just proves they are more of a problem than they realise. Hell the ways democrats vote these people who voted outright for Moore should have ran even further from him since Repubs tend to vote for "Fuck you guys." with their screw the poor for the rich.
Oh yeah I forgot that state is one of the highest with the delusion of "temporarily embarrassed millionaire." Syndrome.
Everything works out for the best.
You have to understand the voting history of Alabama to appreciate what a slap in the face this election was to Moore. There are no close races in Alabama. Trump won by 28% and the smallest victory margin in the past 30 years was 16% in 2002.
This wasn't just a case of Democrats coming out to vote; this was a fucking mutiny. I mean I understand how disappointing it is that he didn't lose by a landslide, but it's a breath of fresh air regardless.

*yawn*
Well, before I hit the road -- god dammit, it snowed again last night -- I should check the news. Let me just take a sip of my hot delicious beverage while I Control-R on MMO-C and...
**PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT**
Okay: not going to lie. I did not see this coming. This woke me up this morning like a high-five to the face. At all. Even if there is a recount and Jones retroactively loses (which by state law seems illegal at first glance to my untrained eye), or if the election was hacked (a real possibility), or if the military vote changes things (Jones won by 21 thousand votes, Alabama has 31 thousand active and reserve military, even if every single one of those votes hadn't been counted yet, Moore would need over eighty percent of them, higher even than the "white men" result in AL), I called this one wrong and I admit it. Wow.
But I might have been in the minority here. Maybe I should have done the research. Like FOX News did, and man, it's a red-letter day when I flat-out admit in public I got science-shamed by FOX Fucking News.
Or, maybe I should have left it to the experts. The Fox News Voter Analysis, a new polling technique Fox News is testing to improve coverage, indicated 51 percent of voters on Tuesday believed the accusations against Moore.
The analysis also showed that 59 percent of voters thought Jones has strong moral character, while 57 percent said Moore doesn’t.
Ex-McConnell aide thanks Bannon 'for showing us how to lose the reddest state in the Union'
The funny part? This was put up well before polls closed.
Before we get the results, I'd just like to thank Steve Bannon for showing us how to lose the reddest state in the union and Governor Ivey for the opportunity to make this national embarrassment a reality
Maybe I should have proclaimed that everything is God's plan, like Roy Moore did repeatedly including during his lack-of-concession speech. Incidentally, God has personally responded that, yes, this was.
Or, maybe I should have cowered in the shadows, pulled into my shell, waiting for the dust to settle, then making my move after kinda backing every candidate and after every possible option to change the outcome had passed, like Mitch McConnell.
In any event, I blew it. At least I take my loss like a mature adult. But I wasn't the only one fooling myself. Not only did Steve Bannon cost us a critical Senate seat in one of the most Republican states in the country, but he also dragged the President of the United States into his fiasco
GOP campaign chairman: I hope Doug Jones will vote with Republicans
Good luck with that. But credit where it's due: Sen. Gardner did say Moore should be thrown out even if he wins. So good on him. But expecting Jones to vote GOP is just unrealistic, when he's already been challenged by them. More on that in a bit.Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), chairman of the National Republican Senate Committee, said Tuesday that Alabama voters determined Roy Moore is “unfit to serve,” adding that he hopes Democrat Doug Jones will vote with Republicans.
“I hope Senator-elect Doug Jones will do the right thing and truly represent AL by choosing to vote with the Senate Repub Majority,” Gardner said in a statement.
And then there's Hannity.
Hannity: McConnell 'deserves a lot of the blame' for Moore loss
(Hannity backed Brooks, but never backed Moore, despite Trump doing so)“Mo Brooks would have won by 20% of the vote, and McConnell interference hurt badly,” Hannity said, referring to Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), who lost in a Republican primary to Moore and Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.).
And of course, let's not forget, Trump's view on the subject.
Congratulations to Doug Jones on a hard fought victory. The write-in votes played a very big factor, but a win is a win. The people of Alabama are great, and the Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time. It never ends!
Almost as forced as his "grab them by the pussy" statement (not calling that an apology). Trump -- who now has the unenviable position of being zero-for-two in the same fucking election -- is now blaming the loss on the rest of his party, not -- for example -- not for backing someone who was fired for violating the Constitution twice, says there should be a religious test for government office, thinks homosexuality should be illegal, says he's not anti-Semetic because he hired a Jew that one time (Happy Hanukkah motherfucker), made a statement so poorly planned out it sounds like he wants slavery back, and, yes, raped a child. And he gets to own that forever.

Hey mods, could you pretty please unban Sulla just for this thread? please?
The GOP primary once again bit them in the ass. A crazy disciple of Bannon in Moore won the primary but failed in general election.
That being said only Moore's pedophilia lost him the election. Not his racism, homophobia and total ignorance and lack of respect for the law.
Democrats are the best! I will never ever question a Democrat again. I LOVE the Democrats!
Wall Street Journal: Bannon ‘is for losers’
- - - Updated - - -"The Alabama result shows that Mr. Bannon cares less about conservative policy victories than he does personal king-making. He wants to depose Mitch McConnell as Majority Leader even if it costs Republicans Senate control. GOP voters, take note: Mr. Bannon is for losers," the board wrote in an op-ed on Wednesday.
"The Moore defeat should also be a lesson to the Republican Party, and President Trump, that many GOP voters are still at heart character voters. They will only accept so much misbehavior in a politician, no matter the policy stakes," the op-ed continued.
"Mr. Trump opposed Mr. Moore in the primary but came around to support him even after the accusations emerged about Mr. Moore’s pursuit of teenage girls while he was in his 30s. The GOP voters who ignored Mr. Trump and rejected Mr. Moore also want a President who acts presidential."
Holy crap, the knives are out for Bannon today.

The Alabama GOP concedes the race in Moore's stead. Moore is the only person who does not concede the election.

Yesterday was a great day... Got my 4 set, got my pantheon trinket. It was all topped off by a Moore loss.
