It's not jealousy, it's dissatisfaction with business using this kind of practices that fool people into buying stuff. As i previously said - i wouldn't care about this and wouldn't participate. If anything, loyal players are not those who are just subbed, but who actively participate in the game, theorycrafters, raid leaders, just decent people who don't ruin the community and are friendly to newcomers. But there are no measurement option for this kind of stuff

Something like the daily login system Warframe has, sure.

Daily rewards could range from common pets, food, potions, or something like that. Maybe that token you use to get old sets for transmog.

Then at 100 days you get a mount for example, and at 200 a free race change or something. But the count shouldn't reset if you don't play for a day. Since I doubt they'd want people just going for free race/faction changes.

At 900 days you get a unique armor set usable by any class that won't be obtainable any other way and also comes with a tabard and a mount to go with.

    1500 days free character boost?

I think it'd be better to get something that people can obtain elsewhere. It would probably be received negatively if you had to stay subscribed to get exclusive rewards.

I think a system like this would be a bit better:

Every month you receive one of the following randomly (or perhaps on a rotating schedule or something), and you are only eligible for that month's reward if you've been subscribed for 6+ months (arbitrary number, can be higher or lower):

    • Free Character Customization
    • Random Mount not on your account
    • Random pet not on your account
    • Random couple pieces of transmog not on your account
    • Random title
    • Exp Boost
    • Small chunk of gold
    • Maybe once a year or two, a free character boost?

The only reason I think this is better, is because it would feel unfair to permanently miss out on a reward due to a loyalty program. What if you're an avid fan, but something horrible happens and you have to let your sub lapse? Or you simply didn't know about the program and now you're angry that you missed some awesome reward and don't want to come back?

Also that list isn't exhaustive, and I'm sure some are bad ideas, and others can come up with better ones!

You mean how the only reason to come back now on a daily basis is to resend followers, repost auctions and collect the gold so you can pay for the next month without real money?

Well isn't that the point of a loyalty program, to offer people exclusive things for being loyal? I mean, look at movie loyalty cups, after the year they offer them, they are gone forever. Look at promotional programs that are offered in any industry.

The pull of exclusivity is what makes this so great. If you are loyal and stay subbed, you get the reward. If not, look out for the next exclusive promotion.

The suggestion is not just to end after BfA, but continue into the next expansion with another set of exclusive rewards.

Also Blizz already did a loyalty reward thingo. Remember that stupid little Orc statue they sent to everyone who's been subbed consistently since Vanilla?

Just wait another 12 years and they might do it again. Hell, they might just even send out a piece of merch that's Alliance themed, imagine that.

Is that the only reason you play?

    Sad if it is.

I do all that naturally by just playing the game. I raid on a weekly basis 1 day a week, and do other stuff that I find entertaining the rest of the week (m+, transmog raids, farm mounts, etc)

Not even paying for the game. Very loyal.

It just seems like you are salty that a loyalty program is even being suggested. Why don't you like the idea? Are you against getting free exclusive things for doing what you would be doing anyway by being subscribed to the game?

STO do it, if you pay for the 'full' game or subscribe for x amount of time you get a pretty dank shuttle, have to admit I've never seen one hanging around.

But they also do access to a VIP zone, that would be a pretty cool feature

I wanna be subscribed to the game because it's actually worth playing, and worth paying for. I don't want the only reason I subscribe to be "just one more month's game time and I get that neato mount."

The problem with a loyalty reward system built around exclusive rewards specifically would be the inevitable dip in the game's overall quality as Blizzard comes to realize that they can have a much easier time keeping subscription numbers up if they just slap a [Rainbow Void Slug]™ on the 24-Month-Reward tier.

Right now, the only reason to subscribe is because you WANT to play; and the game has to be built accordingly. But if Blizz suddenly decided that the only reason to play was for those exclusive "loyalty" rewards, and just gave up on making the game actually good... sure, people would quit, but you know just as many people WOULDN'T.

I don't want the game to become crappy. I want it to earn my subscription, not try to coax it out of me with the promise of free stuff eventually.

I don't play at all actually. But I know people who are going through alts and their followers on a daily basis.

Depends on what you consider loyal to be. Does Blizzard consider simply paying as loyal if they gave everyone an option not to do so? Or do they consider you loyal still because you're just as important part of that system as the people who sell tokens for gold?

I'm not sure about free diablo. Didn't you get the shit deal with highest monthly fee? You can save like 24e/year with best deal.

It was the WoW annual pass. You could pay monthly or use any of the other month plans. https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/3767193

good idea but it has flaws that will add many problems in blizzard support

what happens to the young people that dont have a credit card and only pay the month sometimes 1 or 2 days after the month end? their are not loyal for just 1 or 2 day lapse out of their control because of the parents who pay the game?

the easiest way to do this is giving a loyalty "coin" for the amount the player subscribe even if they stop sometime, bad stuff happens folks or life in general

then add in Blizzard Store a section for that with the rewards and how much they cost, all together in points will be the 24 months, also to avoid people only wanting the mount lock that until the player has all the others rewards bought
also if a xp boost is added, make it work only until max level on current expansion to avoid using it on next expansion

this way people can stop for whatever reason and can get the rewards even on next expansion if they stop some time (on new expansion, new rewards)

For me Loyalty in WOW is not paying for all the months without stops, its playing the game all the years with interrupts or not

  17. #77
Basically, a loyalty reward system COULD work, but it would need to be non-exclusive rewards only. Like, a free race change after X amount of months.

Or heck, credit on the Blizzard storefront. A year of unbroken sub time, 10-20 bucks credit on the Blizz shop. That'd actually work out super well for Blizzard, as people use that 20 dollars credit to get something that costs 23 dollars. The consumer gets a thing for a heavy discount, Blizzard gets 3 dollars for free; everyone wins.

Would rather see the annual pass return.
FOMO: "Fear Of Missing Out", also commonly known as people with a mental issue of managing time and activities, many expecting others to fit into their schedule so they don't miss out on things to come. If FOMO becomes a problem for you, do seek help, it can be a very unhealthy lifestyle..

Yeah I would be all for it, really liked this in FF14.

But yeah, when it comes down to Blizzard, it's evil Activision or it's just some evil scheme to mantain subs.
Sound more like the Casino that give you a free drink after loosing 1k on the Blackjack tables.
