I see, then, I'll give it a try soon.
Just came back from it, and enjoyed this one greatly despite being almost literally dragged into a non-English screening against my will.
Visuals are simply magnificent, sound is great overall, the main plot is actually quite compelling, everyone delivers a good performance (really liked Gosling in fact), and the universe is very faithful to the original while not being sycophantly so and thus establishes its own identity. Apart from a few quibbles with the plot and a morality that's slightly too black and white, I have very few issues with this movie and had a grand old time.
Mah boi Villeneuve did it again. I loved Incendies, loved Prisoners, loved Sicario, loved Arrival, loved this movie. He's very quickly climbing high in my personal list of directors.
Just saw it. I think I could give an 8 or a 9 easily.
Atmospherically great, which is probably not a surprise to those who have watched anything from Villeneuve before. What I found amusing is how many in the comments (not here necessarily) and reviews apparently expected Blade Runner 2. "I loved the original, but..." seems like the most used line. This is not the same film, it's been 30 years and the world has changed a lot. Obviously, it's not a scifi film noir this time. Some will probably dislike it simply due to the pace and lenght. Maybe it could be trimmed a bit here and there, but I was not bored at all.
Will this be regarded as highly as the original? In time, maybe. Not necessarily. However, it's obvious that it won't make bank on todays superheroes and twitch cutting actiontastic loving crowds. And obviously it was not meant to, which is why I like Villeneuve even more.
"It's just like I always said! You can do battle with strength, you can do battle with wits, but no weapon can beat a great pair of tits!"
Best movie i have watched on cinema. Was ready to watch 10 more hours after it ended.... and i thought i was gonna fall asleep cuz i was super tired when we went to watch it.
Movie is just so-so, just watched it yesterday, not good but not bad
Saw it last night and was blown away. I went in with low expectations but Gosling delivered and the whole cast delivered.
The set and prop design combined with the chromatography was just a masterpiece.
I also thought the pacing was spot on and didn't belive it was too long. Never felt slow or rushed.
I also thought Leto did well but did anyone else think it could of easily been Christian Bale playing the role and you wouldn't have noticed the difference?
It was slow and boring I can see why it bombed
I thought it was better than the original which is about the best praise you can give it.
Great film, Only thing I didnt like were the flashbacks to help the audience.
Everything was done near to perfection, you can tell a lot of work and passion went into this film. Plus the way they were faithful to the bladerunner world and expanding it and using modern cgi to go bigger with the themes of technology and identity ill give it 9.7/10. Would be 10/10 without the flashbacks
it was supposed to be "slow and boring" though.
the entire point of the movie is to soak in the atmosphere, in the perfect harmony of picture and sound, it's like drifting into a beautiful dream.
sure it has a detective story on the surface, but that's not the point, nor was it the point of the original.
it's about putting you into this meticulously created, gorgeous world. and letting you completely be entranced by it.
it's not an action movie. and it was never supposed to be one.
I dont think I've seen a movie use visuals and audio together this well in years, every single image is a fucking work of art in this movie.
It flopped because today's audience can't pay attention unless there's an explosion every 5 minutes. which is funny because I legitimatley have ADHD and this was my favourite film of the year by far.
the only thing keeping it from being flawless are the on the nose flashbacks, but thankfully they're sparse.
altough I think once the oscars are done and it wins like 7-8 of them, it's gonna be more successful, much like fury road was.
edit: plus, the original blade runner was also a flop and yet it stood the test of time for 30 years. soo

I'll re-watch it today. The IMAX experience was jaw dropping, let's see how it's on the small screen.
Legitimately one of the best films of the decade, could definitely fit in a top 10. I haven't been this floored since maybe The Great Beauty as far as movies are concerned.
The only thing I wish is that it showed a bit more of the city life, that's where I think the original did better, otherwise top notch film that I'll gladly re-watch along side the original.
Its was a better movie then the original, better plot, more interesting main character, actual detective work going on. The only limiting factor is that it was not as original as the original one duh. To the people thinking the movie is boring... good for you i guess, half the movie released every year is designed for you with enough background noise to keep you awake the entire time while you dont have to think.
The first Blade Runner had a lot of new stuff in it, original stuff.
This blade runner might've had a better plot and characters but we've been there and done that far as science fiction side goes. It's hard to impress audiences who've seen everything.

As somebody who never saw the first one, Blade Runner 2049 was probably the best film of the year for me. Really enjoyed the visuals, was easy to get into the universe, and it overall was a fun ride. Gimme holo-waifu.
I suspect this movie will be like a new Fifth Element to me; a movie I can turn on randomly and often and still enjoy it.
Rewatched it on the tv, I've concluded it's easily one of the best movies I've seen in years. The visuals are simply unforgettable, a feast for the eyes. They really did the original more than justice.

The casino house with the animated elvis and frank was insanely beautiful. The backdrop of a disco light event while two characters meet, so epic.
The ocean crashing into the concrete walls. The orange and blue tints. Gonna have stuff from this film in my dreams for sure
Yeah I watched it twice and it's my movie of the year as well. Not to embark on the bandwagon, since I do think it has a few plot problems. Yet as an overall package it's great, with interesting characters (albeit I'd have liked to see Luv get better, more developed motivations), great soundtrack, amazing visuals and atmosphere, and actually pretty good pacing for a film of that length. Villeneuve never disappointed me before, and he did not start here. It's good to see Hollywood still has a place for directors with a vision like his, albeit the film's poor box office performance kind of reminds us why studios take the safe route and just do superhero movies.
