    [Movie Music] Favorite Movie Soundtracks?

While it is desirable to always have amazing visuals or story lines or characters in a movie or show, I think one sometimes underrated aspect is the movies Soundtrack. Certain movies and scenes just stand out so much because of the supporting soundtrack.

These soundtracks can leave us with sadness, excitement, peace or anxiety...you name it. Hell, certain scenes are just great to watch again to hear the soundtrack along with what is going on in the scene since they fit together so well.

I can't be the only one, but I really really love OST when it comes to movies, and in fact can I say I listen to many movie soundtracks and songs more than contemporary music, since I feel the latest hit will fade away in a few years while movie music has that timeless appeal.

Have any favorite soundtracks and why? Or even better, movie composers? For example I love Hans Zimmer. Every movie he puts music into just makes it much more fantastic.

    Angelo Badalamenti
    Giorgio Moroder
    Ennio Morricone

Funny how so many iconic composers are from Italian descent.

Tron was just a 2 hour long daft punk music video. That was an example of pure hype.

Another hype example is 300 Rise of an Empire. The movie was soso but the music just made you super hyped and like "F YEH TESTOSTERONE."

Captain America The Winter Soldier has a great soundtrack by Henry Jackman
The Dark Knight OST is fantastic
King Arthur (underrated movie and underrated OST)
The first Transformers movie had a great OST.
    X-Men First Class
    Hancock
    +1 vote for Tron Legacy

And while not technically a movie soundtrack, Two Steps From Hell has a bunch of incredible stuff that often serves as a soundtrack for my game playing.

    Love me some OSTs

Just to name my top 3...
    Howard Shore
    John Williams
    Ramin Djawadi

What drives me nuts by the way.... since I listen to Scores so much, I recognize them when a studio uses the score from a movie in a trailer for a different movie.

Oh yeah enough time paying attention and you notice similarities or straight rip offs.

Anything by Hans Zimmer has become cliche but I do appreciate his work.

Both shit movies but great scores.

    Forgot to add

Max Richter is a name you'll be hearing a lot of. His stuff is up there with Zimmer

Matter of perspective but I generally think Germans own that category.

This is one of my all time favs. When the choir kicks in as we see the mountain of water. So epic!

    Don't be snobby!

While we're on the subject of Stephen King movies, how about this one:

    That's more like it.

Criminally underrated show here (I'm aware it's slightly OT since it's not a film but I feel it's worth praise).

Tron: Legacy is the best soundtrack ever made whether you believe it or not. There is no fighting it.

"It's clear this is another bash Apple thread. Such things are not conducive to a good discussion."

WRONG! Those are the BEST discussions!
