Battle for the internet: The fight for net neutrality

    https://www.battleforthenet.com

Simply put, go to the link, write your protest to Congress.

Nothing more I need say, it's all on the page.

It doesn't matter. The piece of filth running the FCC has made it clear that he doesn't give a flying shit what the people think and just wants to satisfy his old bosses at Verizon(who have no doubt promised him some money).

Not sure another thread about the same thing this week is going to change the reality. The changes are going to happen, just like Tax Reform did.

That's the FCC, not the supreme court. The public are fighting the FCC to prevent this happening

I'm sure, writing to the "representatives" that have more or less openly admitted that they'll vote for whatever their donors tell them to, is going to help...

This ^. People need to not just accept something blindly set in stone. Everyone thought Hillery had it in the bag because trump was such a clown, turns out believing that and not voting for it lead to that little mistake

And without donor money they don't even get to the point where people could vote for them.
Not that this mattered much, because most voters seem to be so entrenched, that they'll vote for anyone as long as they wear the R or D tag they identify with, not to mention that quite often both are "lizards".

Well, North Korea also has some shape or form of democracy (not that I would put it on the same level), but once the politicians that are supposed to represent the people stop doing so and follow the money, there isn't much dêmos left in it and it (d)evolves into a plutocracy.

Sad, but true, this country has toxic levels of partisanship to the point of hilarity.

Some people like to think the internet is a right and should be for everyone like water and electricity. If that's the case, they should be charged for how much they use. Simple as that.

A hand written letter is worth like 3,000 internet emails.

seriously? We PAY FOR THE INTERNET, What do you think that bill that comes out of the phone bill each month is? We are charged for its use from our IPs, and yet this system would have you then pay more.

Maybe your daddy pays everything for you, so you don't have a real world view of how this works, but like water and electricity, when we pay for the use of these things already, we expect to have access to it. If they started blocking off water and electricity via additional charges, people would be rightly pissed.

people should yes, but why should my netflix be limited because joe blow leave it run all day?

If the ISPs can prove a monetary burden from companies like Netflix then it only seems logical that they should be able to rectify that.

    A) internet doesnt work like that. The argument "if people want to actually use the service they're paying for they should pay more" is just nonsense. Data traffic doesnt wear and tear. A byte transmitted doesnt cost more then an idle infrastructure.

    B) it still has nothing to do with net neutrality.

Its about if someone chooses to deliver internet to people, they have to deliver all of the internet.
Not exclude the parts they dont agree with, not slow down or block parts to charge you more to access.

Mostly to block a lot of anticompetitative attempts done in the past.
Like blocking voip traffic by an isp that also does phones. Or whoever it was that blocked facetime to launch its own competing service.
