After Oprah gave a politically charged speech at the Golden Globes, many are saying she will/should run for president. CNN reported she's "actively thinking about challenging Trump in 2020". NBC declared her "Our future president" in a tweet.

Trump responded that he'll beat her badly if she runs.

She is smart, business savvy (and successful, ahem), and has a huge following and is incredibly generous. If we're going to pick people who haven't run for office previously as Presidential candidates going forward, she is a terrific candidate.

The most likely Democratic Candidate is someone who is a Governor who is not nationally known right now, but popular in his or her state. That person, like Obama in 2005, could have a small or non-existent following, but show up in 2020, and they'll have a legion of fans and all the usual people saying their Communist on the other foot.

I'd look at Gov. John Hickenlooper of Colorado in particular, and any other Governor that hits term limits in January 2019 or January 2021. Not saying it's gonna be him, but someone of that profile today is FAR more likely than Elizabeth Warren or Michelle Obama, or Oprah.

Maybe, but I think some silly things like how someone looks or in the case of Hickenlooper simply his name could be a detriment. Andrew Cuomo looks like a US President, I wouldn't count him out just because of that, these things can be horribly simplistic sometimes.

I don't care who runs for president as long as they do the job correctly. We have had people with experience and a person who clearly lacks it (Trump) and each did piss poor.

Oprah would have to win the Democratic Primary. If the Democratic Party can't churn out a candidate that could win against Oprah, there are bigger problems for them to worry about.
