I've been to parties hosted in people's rooms (which sounds way more rapey than it ends up being).

Sometimes people will rent out a conference room within their own hotel (varying sizes).

Some are invite only (doesn't usually stop me) w/ bouncers and all that jazz. Others are totally open (come and go as you please).

Those tend to be first night. I have seen some parties/get togethers done on Thursday night after early check in, but the bulk of everyone isn't there yet and those tend be kind of lame. Sunday a lot of people are traveling home, and locals like to go to Disneyland.

Ummm, my guildmates take up all the space I have extra, sorry! There's so many of them that we overflow into hotels. I can only hold 6 comfortably, and like another 6-8 if they want to sleep on the ground.

As long as it's the San Diego Comic Con, I'd prefer to stay somewhat hidden at the NYCC.
