There was one time they did award playtime for downtime. I think it was after 2.2.0 It was measly, a day or 4, the servers were jacked up for a week. I don't think you'll be seeing it again. XD

The amount of server changes going into this patch rivals an expansion launch. All the databases for every mob/quest/dungeon/etc from 1-100 are being changed. "Small patch"

They did it while the entire team was in office, I'm betting they are doing a ton of QA right now before they put the servers online.

I remember a time when this was a 1 am to 11 am ordeal. Blizzard doing maintenance during peak hours is fucking horrid.

I dunno, it started when I was still sleeping/getting up for work, and I'm still at work now.

I'd say during the majority of the maintenance window, most people are sleeping/at work/at school. You might be in the minority bud

I'd say there's a lot more people online at 2AM rather than 9AM.

I honestly don't know. I don't know much about coding. I just know that the scaling technology did come with Legion. So I have no idea how hard it is to do that for the rest of the game. Apparently pretty hard considering this is the longest the servers have been down for who knows how long.
