All things equal, Japan started WW2 when they invaded Manchuria in 1931. All things equal, Japan was as fucking ruthless and vile during the period as the Nazis. Perspectives could argue that they were worse in some ways.

The world disagrees. Probably because there wasn't a lot of "world" aspect to the Second Sino-Japanese War, let alone the Invasion of Manchuria. It's as much of a start of a world war as the Civil War in Spain.

The Japanese were responsible for nearly if not more deaths to the Chinese as the Germans were to the Jewish people. And yet... fuck it, they gave us Nintendo!

And? Chinese are the primary victims of the Japanese. The Jews aren't to Germans. Russians were. And Russian casualties alone outnumber the Chinese. Then add Jews, all other Slavs, Roma and plenty other groups. Overall Germans killed much more people than the Empire of Japan. You're not going to handwave the Nazis away with the Chinese.

No, you're just not able to pay attention to your notifications as I answered the two questions that weren't fucking directed towards me 30 minutes ago. Also, it's not my or anyone's fault but yours when they don't answer questions which aren't directed towards them. We all noticed that the answers the other person provided equated to nothing as when their personal view didn't align with something you could try to character attack you gave up and moved on, once again proving that what people similar to your self want is to find a way of diminishing someones opinions on something which differ from yourself separate from argument but rather straw-manning your way to perceived victory.

Also, I've not deflected or shifted away from anything. You're free to highlight where that's been done but I strongly warn you from doing so blanket or vaguely as I do have the capacity to shame your lack of mental prowess. You might need to reflect for a moment and struggle with whether or not someone is deflecting or you're just too many steps behind to fully comprehend what their saying....

The biggest issue of all of this, is the attempt to provide moral cover for the Nazi regime. It's not context, it's a deflection. Calling out the Japanese for their actions is fine, trying to do it as a means to mitigate the actions of the Nazis, that's just plain disingenuous. Yes, the Nazis were fucking terrible. Period. the attempts at moral equivalency are simply a pathetic attempt to muddy the waters.

Yes and no. I agree with you in a certain way because it is correct to an extent. The fact being that there are many choices and decisions made which allowed it to become a "world war." To be fair, it's unlikely the USA would have been involved if the Japanese didn't make a dumb choice.

As far as Russian casualties go, I have a special position of looking at Russia for that one... not that the USA is innocent in that slaughter either. That being said, the Germans invaded into Russian controlled lands. Yup, that fucking happened. But that's generally not what gives them the "horrific" moniker. It was what they did to the Jews which generally comes up as the appalling and evil aspect. As an American and being slightly silly about things at times, it seems dumb to be all "omg look at what the Germans did to the Russians!" when we spent the next 40 years trying to destroy them both emotionally, physically, economically, and literally following the War. Hell, pre WW2 anti communism sentiments were damn high here already.

Beyond all of that, Stalin did a damn good job killing his own people prior, during, and post the war.

Also, I'm not trying to make an apples to apples comparison. I've kinda gone on record advocating against that time and time again. I've simply stated "people suck, most of the sides suck, dirty shit was done" and that I don't subscribe to the universal condemnation of the Nazi's on a pedestal above everyone else. Nazi's were bad, Commies were bad, Japanese were bad, the US did some shit things... IBM and Coke can suck a dick... ect ect.

Next, if you scroll back to the very first post I made... I addressed the question. I addressed it without mentioning anything about the Japanese.... the Russians.... space lizards or even the Spanish Inquisition. Don't know how you missed that either.

You got all bent out of shape because I answered a question of yours pointing out that in the totality of history it is VERY DIFFICULT to accurately measure whether or not the Nazi party did more good than bad beyond a personal moral position.... and holy fuck did that hurt your balloon knot.

I don't know. It's impressive from a snap shot in time sort of ways. You're talking about one of the first well photographed and videoed periods of time. It's a culmination of 1000 years or more of fighting in Europe to it's inevitable conclusion, captured perfectly in black and white. From a historical point of view, it's impressive. From an emotional or moral point of view it's tragic.
