In the early 2000's, getting from level 125-126 in Asheron's Call took more exp than 1-125 did. You were looking at months of grinding unless you had a huge guild setup feeding you. Granted, there was little content (if any) in the game that required that high of a level, but still.
If you really want to get an idea of a Korean grinder, try leveling to 110 without doing any quests. Then your comparison might be more accurate.
I don't and probably won't unlock the allied races to even level one, and either way I wouldn't start one from 1 anyway I'd either buy a Race change or Level Boost.
No, because i never started. This was already the least alt friendly expansion ever, so I had no desire to suffer even more.
It's not the same thing, at least not for me. In classic I never raided so leveling was it for me I never reached max level even though I started 1 month after release, but I want to relive the golden days where it matters. Now in Retail there is no reason to level any more characters since I cant stand the 100-110 Grind I only leveled 2 of my 100's this Xpac and cannot be arsed to do any more it blows. So why would I level 1-110, 1-60 is achievable and much less effort.
I'm levelling both an Alliance character and a Horde one, without any heirloom (I have a full set for both, decided not to use them). I'm loving it. I don't mind the slow pace at all, and I really enjoy doing quest chains that I was forced to skip before because they were already gray. I'm concentrating on the zones I used to skip entirely, and I already discovered some quest chains that I never did before. I also love that gray mobs don't exist anymore: you are constantly in danger of aggroing some dangerous beast around you, same level as you. I'm in no hurry to reach the level cap, I'm enjoying the journey and experiencing the storylines for both factions. While levelling in WoW is never hard and never will be, at least it's not the total snoozefest that it used to be. Not buying any boost for now, sorry Blizzard.
People still level in WoW? I mean other than the X number of levels for a new expansion. Who doesn't have one of every class at 100 by now???
Hopefully the ones like this. Keep that toxicity on BfA please for the love of Christ ;-;

This was the same case for a game called Flyff (I used to play Flyff about mid 2006, found wow late 2007)
Anyways yeah, at the time 121 was the max level. From 120 to 121 it took about 4 months or so. People would always say "Yeah I get about 7% EXP per week"
Rofl
Not being able to two-shot your way to maxlevel doesn't qualify as a korean grind.
Do you also play Diablo 3 on your 1k+ paragon char on Normal difficulty? That's pre 7.3.5 leveling.
And did I give up yet? Nope, on the contrary I've made new alts in anticipation of the patch and love the feeling of actually having use for my abilities, since mobs aren't dead by the end of my second cast + instant. First time in years I've enjoyed playing an alt, because I'm not treated as if I'll quit the game entirely if my health drops below 75%, and dungeons actually feel like dungeons, especially when bosses actually live for a minute or more, instead of dropping in 10 seconds.
Worst thing about that last part that it isn't even a joke, dungeon bosses did drop in 10 seconds before the patch and that is pathetic.
Also playing without heirlooms and boy do I enjoy the feeling of actually having use for quest rewards and noticing the difference it makes (because when mobs actually have some decent amount of health, gaining small amounts of power actually can make a difference). Sure it feels a bit shit knowing I can at any time open a window and probably double my damage and buff health by 50%, but hey, can't have everything I guess. The biggest flaw is that mobs still don't really deal enough damage, but I haven't reached high enough to say for certain.

Occasional WoW Classic Andy since.
Nothing lasts forever, as they say.
But at least I can casually play Classic and remember when MMORPGs were good.
I’m having a great time leveling. Feels much more natural.
OP disappeared from this thread, wonder why. This isn’t anything like a Korean MMO at all. It feels like leveling is actually important again, I don’t spend less than 5 minutes in each zone which is great. Dungeons are a bit harder which is also awesome.
A few months ago I got fed up with the game and stopped the farming, only playing for Raiding and thats it. During the holydays (and more spare time), my interest in the game came back and I lvled a WW Monk (very strong/fun class at the moment, IMO). It took me less than 2 days and I was lvl110. IMO lvling is a joke. Its so easy and fast with Heirlooms. I usually just grind 2-3 zones max per new expansions. I lvled at least 25 characters in the last 10 years, so I kinda know the zone/quest by heart.
Now with the new Sub races, I dont plan yet to lvlup a character using one of the new sub race. But a Void Elf Warlock (if possible, and the racials seem a bit OP overall) might be on my To-Do list for this summer.
I wish I was still horde, or else I would have done a Highmoutain Tauren right away! A canadian tauren Mooooooooo-se!

Incredibly boring, as I figured it would be.
- Questing takes slightly longer, but is still completely broken due to Blizzard's neglect and incompetence.
- While it's nice that you see boss mechanics in dungeons, dungeons overall have been very boring. Mediocre exp and bosses have way too much HP. They don't need as much HP as they have now to show off their mechanics. By the time you get it to 75%, you're sitting there realizing how basic these bosses are because you've already seen all of it's mechanics multiple times in that small 25% window.
My Paladin made it to 38 before I retired it. What a super compelling change. Mobs now take 3 hits instead of 2. Wow!
That said, in Blizzard's defense, I hate their leveling and I have no reason or goal to actually level this Paladin. When Allied Races come out and I have a goal, we'll see.
