What does this Egypt style have in common with Old God theme? (Ahn'Qiraj)

    Hey there,

I always wondered, why the style of the bosses in AQ20 and AQ40 as well as the architecture are so familiar with Egypt esthetics.

Is there a reason for that connection? What do you think?

Could someone just speculate with a wall of text? Would appreciate reading it.

    Greetings

Well, since AQ is close to Uldum I think that the C'thun somehow corrupted some of the titan guardians from uldum (maybe the ruins used to be part of that area, but im guessing here) and used them as guardians and soldiers

    This.
The titan-forged from Uldum have a egypt style. C'thun corrupted AQ, the place was originally a titan facility.

But where do creatures like Anubisath (endboss of AQ20) come from? Most of the creatures have certain ancestors, who are the ancestors of these figures? Or who made them?

There is so much fucking lore. Did some research. This is so good.

The titan-forged created them as "servants" from the Forge of Wills.

If you're asking how Blizzard came up with it?

The Aqir enslaved them originally. Then it seems they were there for so long they just joined them. Ossirian got buffed by C'Thun, so they teamed up somewhat I guess? The Aqir turned into the Qiraji over this time, so it was a long ass time.

It seems like there's a lot of potential in the whole Aqir vein for future lore exploration. I hope they consider it. I didn't play Wrath when it was current (I literally started the last day), but I feel like even having slow leveled through Northrend and done all the dungeons and raids there's some cool things they could do with them yet.

After Cataclysm and Warcraft Chronicles, Ahn'Qiraj's thematics got explained in-lore.

But the overall inspiration is what Kaleredar said:

Simply desert theme, to which an Egyptian setting is fairly stereotypical to.

    Nothing more past that.

Then you are in luck. In one of the new dungeons in BfA there is an Aqir (not a turned Qiraj) as an end-boss. I think we even saw her in the first BfA-trailer.

Afaik the ancient Egypt's god Anhubis lorded over the realm of the dead, whose dwellers lost progressively any trace of sanity, so that they could never rejoin the living. Anhubis spoke to every and each of his subjects in order to strengthen his grasp over them, so even those who somehow managed to escape the nether realm were cast aside and ridiculed by their fellow men. Thus many of the prominent features of the Old God's and the Egyptian theme, which in WoW was combined with a heavy Zerg vibe.
