In state parks they have signs saying "don't feed the animals", its not because they don't love the animals, its because they don't want the animals to become dependent on humans feeding them. The animals would wander into human areas for food instead of foraging for it like they have done forever.

I am not religious or right wing, but I lose all sympathy for those who intentionally put themselves in harm's way to exploit the spirit of laws requiring people to aid each other.

Those laws exist because of the golden rule... You would want other people to help you if you are in distress, so you are obligated to help them if they are in distress.

Intentionally putting yourself in distress to exploit that compulsion for personal gain is disgusting, and those that do it deserve no assistance; in my opinion.

As far as I understand it, it 'encourages' people to remain homeless. The more we support them, the more they'll be inclined not to do something about it (or, yanno, die. I dunno).

Not that I think it's right, or just, or even humane... But it still is the law, one I've definitely broken multiple times, and will continue to do so when convenient. It's not enforced heavily, as far as I'm aware... But it's one of those "You can't really complain if you get caught"
