If I had to add people dead and alive

Murphy was funnier than Pryor in my opinion Rock wouldn't even be on the list, I do like Rock, but I might put him in the range of Bill Cosby who was also funny but not top 5.

Mac was funny, but top 5 huh

If you're talking complete bodies of work, Rock has both Grammys and Emmys, Mac has Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. I could name a lot more comedians that like such as Seinfeld, Williams, David, O'Neil, Hedberg.

Those are good except for Don Rickles. I don't get him at all. I never liked him on talk shows in the more recent years and I tried watching some of his roasts from earlier on Youtube and I can't even understand what he's saying, it's gibberish. Maybe he's doing inside jokes or something but it's terrible to watch.

Rodney Dangerfield is really funny on Carson.

I think Norm Macdonald is probably who I like best these days.
    I'd go:
    1. Norm
    2. Jimmy Carr
    3. Jim Gaffigan
    4. Dave Chappelle
    5. Louis C.K.

Norm tells some good Rodney stories too. Here's a good Norm style joke:

There is one country that worries me — not Iraq, not Iran, not North Korea. The only country that really worries me is the country of Germany. I don’t know if you guys are history buffs or not. In the early part of the previous century, Germans decided to go to war. And who did they go to war with? The world. That’d never been tried before. So you figure that would take about five seconds for the world to win, but no, it was actually close. Then about 30 years past, and Germany decides again to go to war, and again, it chooses as its enemy, the world…but you think at that point the world would go, listen Germany, here’s the deal, you don’t get to be a country no more, on account of you keep attacking the world.

I saw him play a club in DC a few years back. Did photos afterwards with everyone, seemed chill.

Oh Don Rickles was amazing, the guy could seriously trade insults with the best, walk in a room full of wiseguys, insult them and their lives, and have them all rolling with laughter.

He was one of the best insult comics, one of the originals, I do like your list though, some I have to think about now too.

Norm Macdonald is one of my favorites. Him playing Pigeon on Mike Tyson Mysteries is the best.

Physical comedy: Chris Farley, Zach Galifianakis and John Ritter.

Others: Norm MacDonald, Henny Youngman and Don Rickles. Norm is great because he's got a weird sense of humor, and Henny of course was the king of one-liners. Don had a great line in Norm's movie, "Dirty Work", when he tells Norm to "get a horse and live in the mountains some place and don't bother anybody".

    Stand Up Living:

    CK
    Chappelle
    Mulaney
    Jeffries
    Stanhope

Standup Dead or all time list:

    Pryor
    Hicks
Murphy (doesn't do it anymore so I left him for all time list)
    Carlin
Williams/Martin - Tough choice That is Steve Martin, not Martin Lawrence (who is rather hilarious sometimes)

    Actor:
    Wilder
    Rickles
    Galifinakis
    Williams
    Murray/Chase

I could go on, as there are some other greats missing that I love. This is as quick as I could go with what I've listened to recently.

I always forget how good Cosby was in his early standup days. And I'd need an honorable mention cause I do enjoy Bill Burr and a few others as well. Mulaney popped up more in my mind than Burr.

I have my top five, no actual order I think, just 5.

    Eddie Murphy
    Robin Williams
    Jim Carrey
    Dave Chappelle

And the 5th is a danish one, so that is just left out.
