The dumbest thing to me about this is by locking the allied races behind a grind it's literally put me off from preordering until I can finally get the grind done. I'm sure there are others that would have preordered already but are waiting for the reputation to. So it effectively lowers their preorder projections.

I wish they just gate the heritage armor instead and just add more sets as time goes on. I think it's fine until battle for the alliance drops but that's my opinion. Letting us kills mobs for rep or giving us rep bracer enchants would help a lot apparently randomness make it a less than stellar grind.

Well, reddit, what do allied races have to do with that? Basically what was in my post you quoted, but deleted that specific part?

You "develop your character over a long period of time" to what... roll a new one? But what of your character you've been developing over so long? You pay up to change race? Good goy.
So basically you're saying that you object to investing time in your original main character when your intention is to switch to a new race? Sorry, but you really didn't communicate that at all. The theme in your post quite clearly seemed to be about spending lots of time to unlock the content.

Good to know that your principle reason for dismissing my argument is my high post count (along with being illiterate, apparently). Maybe focus on the argument rather than the person if you expect others to take your opinion seriously

I totally expect that by the time you can buy a physical box of the game, all rep requirements for the new races will be removed and you'll just need BfA for them.

One would hope not since that defeats the whole purpose of having a reward you play the game to unlock.

The purpose of including this content in the pre-purchase is to give people who are getting bored of Legion more content to keep them busy between now and the end of this expansion. This will no longer be a requirement going forward once BfA is released.

What you should be asking yourself is what you want the allied races for? If you quit the game before or during Legion, then presumably you didn't enjoy the game. So now you've returned and fear that your getting "burnt out" trying to get the rep/achievements for allied races.

But what do you plan to do when you get access to one?
If your going to level one from 20, what happens when you hit 110? The game is still the same as it was when you left, doing emissaries, order missions, WQs and dungeons/raids are still the core parts of the game. So if your burning out on playing that content now to unlock a new race, what is it exactly you plan to do with your new race other than the same content you feel burnt out on already?
If your going to just race change your main, the same as above applies only now your instantly faced with the content you feel burnt out on instead of going through 90 levels first.

I got back after Argus and i still managed to get the reps in time to unlock the allied races. And i only started grinding them after we learned that we'd need those reps to unlock the races.

Glad you basically agree with me then, since all you said was just some bullshit buzzwords thrown around by people who like to pretend they know some sort of debating etiquette

But really though, I'd like to know your opinion, do you agree that "developing your character over a long period of time" - by playing time-gated outdated content, only to either throw it away or pay more (what is basically 2 months worth of subscription) is a good design choice for the players?

I'm glad people keep bringing this issue up, here and on official forums. Blizzard needs the feedback, else we would only have more of this shit.

As someone who only started playing again a month ago, give or take a few days (i stopped shortly after nighthold came out), i have not only finished the rep grind for both void elves and lightforged draenei, but also leveled a void elf warrior from 20-110 for some sweet heritage armour.

If you guys put as much effort into rep grinding as you did whining on the forums, you might have the reps finished too!

Just got the Lightforged Draenei unlocked after 9 days. Pretty chill, around 3 hours each day invested. Can't complain.

Exactly, instead of posting how much it sucks I just did it and to my surprise it's not even that much of a grind. Around 30 hours of gametime, that's nothing, and it also improved my character and I got lots of Gold along the way. You get rep + rewards on top of rewards. No idea what the problem is.

I am the type who up until it became one hit death to enemies loved leleling alts and i love the cosmetic look of the races. Welll void elves at least.. draenei i like the bs anvil lol.

I wanted to check out the leveling changed too while using a new race(two birds one stone)

As for legion leveling honestly i feel it was mostly a return to form(why i wish blizz HAD done cata 2.0 even though cata was when peveling alts lost alot of appeal to me..the new zones were too mechanical and streamlined didn't feel organic. Buut i kinda feel like legion mentality blizz could maybe do it right.

Other things were saying being in dungeons having roles be useless since i generally enjoyed tanking.

As for why i left..most community was near toxic peak imo.

My biggest complaint with legion btw is how they based it all on rng and as a story lover this will sound wierd but the wah they did the story and leveling for alts. Was too compulsory and this comes from a guy who MULTIPLE TIMES cleared ffxiv story through the main heavensward one(that is ALOT of story) without skipping.

And the burnout has more to do with frustration related to the wierd mix of rng and time gating. Give me a way to truly farm rep and i would probably have not only been done but alot happier.

I do NOT want a requirement removal just to be able to actually work towards my goal longer then say a few hours a day.

Started about 1-2 weeks ago. Rng has not been kind to me as far as order hall and wq/drops go.

Would have been done if not for rng/timegate locks. I would like to actually play to unlock and not be watching my phone all day after i do legion stuff. Or not have to run the argud story gods only know how often in a row just to unlock dailies to offset rng.

Give me dungeons to grind rep in or even a raid to get a bit in to help out. Hell even open world mobs to grind is better imo.

This. Although grinding isn't something I enjoy the time-gate and rng makes it infinitely more unbearable. The only thing worse is the people defending these practices.

It's Blizzard's new idea of content.... Legion 2.0 is now in beta.

Exactly. That actually is even more annoyong especially with the comments about playing the game and working towards it..that is EXACTLY what i want to do. Not play phone garrison after i do my wq on my main or whatever alts can to get a rep token that may not even appear for days.

So instead i level alts and unlock argus(just stsrted alts and have 4 110s left finished argus on obe the other day)

THIS kinda repeating of content is why i mentioned burnout..more frustration and being forced to do stuff all because of rng and finding ways to fight it.

Fix this and i doubt even half as many would be complaining if any.

Hell i would even race change my main if humans could be shaman just for the rep buff
