Top aides Huma Abedin and Monica Hanley, as well as another person whose name is redacted, also helped Clinton set up her BlackBerry.

According to Abedin and Hanley, Clinton’s old devices would often disappear to parts “unknown once she transitioned to a new device.”

Cooper, according to the report, “did recall two instances where he destroyed Clinton’s old mobile devices by breaking them in half or hitting them with a hammer.”

The hammer thing was a joke that originated on 4chan /pol/ from Clintonites to bait Trumpkins into seeing how willing they were to believe made up nonsense about Hillary even if it was known to be made up. It was picked up by Breitbart and at least a couple of other far right news sites. The fact that people still use it as if it were true speaks volumes about some people.

I work in healthcare. We wipe devices that MAY contain patient information, pull the hard drives and send them to a facility where they are literally fed into a metal shredder. How is that any different?

He stated that, when she switched to a new device, the old device was physically destroyed. However, the quote by Vago which made the statement was clearly trying to draw a connection between the (fairly common) practice of destroying old devices which may contain sensitive information, to the disappearance of the 30,000 emails.

Yes, devices were destroyed. Yes, some emails weren't recovered. But the testimony shows that the devices destroyed happened whenever a device was replaced, not suddenly and all at once in an apparent effort to hide something.
