Some pretty disturbing research out of Australia.

The research found around one in 10 Australians identified themselves as prejudiced against other cultures...Nearly half of Australians are anti-Muslim

Some Australians are nationalistic and have strong views about multiculturalism and protecting the ‘whiteness’ of Australia. While these views may be quite radical and contrary to Australian social values in general, this does not necessarily equate with white supremacy. It is useful to consider white pride and white supremacy as being on a sliding scale.

What do you think? Is Community Action for Preventing Extremism downplaying white supremacy? Pretty disturbing that Australia has such a large Alt-Right presence, I was under the impression it was a pretty nice place until I stumbled across this.

The CAPE is downplaying white pride as not being white supremacist. Seems like a odd thing to do and I've seen repeatedly here that white supremacy/white pride = alt right. Seems like a big problem down under.

white pride isn't anymore white supremacist than black pride is black supremacist.

it's stupid, nobody should give a shit about their skin color, let alone be prideful over it. but yeah, it's not supremacist to have pride in your race. it's a requirement to be a supremacist, but being a supremacist is not a requirement for having pride.

Alt right wants an ethno-state (for white people), some of them also want the state to have a white supremacist hierarchic.

Being against* other cultures is most definitely not white supremacist, a nationalist is a person that values their culture and values over others and that is tied to race at all.

Being against Muslims* does not make you a white supremacist unless you are against other races (and here I am assuming it is used for Arabic people, not religious people, as a religion is not a race) as well.

* Finally and most important, "being against" needs to be defined. Not wanting sharia in a society they live in is very different from wanting all of them dead, and the vague "being against" can be applied for both stances.

If you look at the report in the article, it's not just Muslims. They just happen to be the largest number.
