Should the higest end PvE be templated?

PvP is templated, so players are less burdened with grinding gear and skill and strategy can be a more determining factor in the outcome of matches.
The same holds for competitive M+, even though at the moment only in the MDI.
Has the time come for high-end competitive raiding, the 'Mythic race', to become template based as well? It would solve the grinding problem, and have fairly little impact on the overall player-base.

    No?

You can't really nor should compare PvE and PvP when it comes to that. PvP will always face the same force while PvE is ever increasing. You would remove a large portion of the game if doing so.

Tbh i'd be ok with it. But people are all about the gear... even though it only lasts one tier.

I do like the way GW2 does it, but this is WoW.

I'd be happy if they kept it for PvP. The fairness made it easy to jump into pvp with any character and not get roflstomped.

The reason templates happened in pvp was because a fully geared player had a massive gap in power compared to a fresh max level player. PVE is a linear race; The goal is to get gear with the intent and purpose to kill bosses and get more gear; there's no competition and there's already mechanisms in place for players to get caught up with PvE gear.

The only place where that idea makes any sense would be i.e. MoP/WoD challenge mode dungeons; where the goal is to beat the clock and arbitrarily raising gear levels effectively diminishes accomplished records made at lower ilvls.

The gist of your post is that high-end gear should just be handed out. I think playing for it still is important. The better stuff is gated the way it is for a very good reason. PVE is still more co-operative than competitive and we should keep it that way. Blizzard's unending ideas about ways to take what should be a co-operative experience and inject competition into it has been a quiet undoing of the game in some ways.

pvp template that still scales with ilvl
but ya, no. This game is not a hardcore pve boss kill ladder, it has it, but that's not what this game is.
And just because gear get's dropped literally freaking everywhere now doesn't mean it's not an important part of the game.

How would you balance set bonuses in this? Or are they nonexistant
Whether the world's greatest gnats, or the world's greats heroes, you're still only mortal!

PvP templates are trash. It was much more fun when you could choose to be a glass canon, tanky or balanced stats. No choices means less fun. No reason to even PvP in your free time since the rewards are dog shit.

It would be amusing to see, but it would be very very bad for the game. Just look at how devastating it has been for pvp participation.
