Because otherwise I am keeping some small hope that maybe they will be revamping the old world, a few zones at a time, DURING BfA.

I don’t think Blizz does new build notes unless they have new instructions for the testers. Need new content to unlock.

Maybe they want to make sure everythings runs stable until they unlock new content and invite the first big wave.

But the same infrastructure and engine. No reason not to pull assets from live if they want hd.

May as well save on space too; all those TBC and Wrath assets in your retail client could be used for TBC/Wrath servers if it's all one client.
It became clear that it wasn’t realistic to try to get the audience back to being more hardcore, as it had been in the past. -- Tom Chilton

    Here's a fun question:

What do you think are the odds that we'll see -several- Allied Races before patch 8.1 of BAz?

With the Orcstuff already being fiddled with, Vulpera already seeing a new model change, the ThinHumans and Monster Hunters in the code...

Maybe Zandalari and Dark Iron will have company?

Two birds with one stone. Update all those old models. Use them in Classic. Use them in Live.

At this point, saying that Classic and Live use the same infrastructure and engine is a huge stretch.

Classic pre-dates Battle.net integration, it predates the CASC file format, it predates modern billing and account systems, it predates the modern server infrastructure, it predates the modern launcher and content distribution network, etc.

Likewise, the game engine has undergone a gradual transformation into something that hardly resembles Classic as it did at launch. I can't even begin to fathom how many lines of code have been rewritten, added, and deleted in the nearly 15 years since it launched. And likewise there are likely very few people around who have a complete understanding of that old codebase.

Yes, Classic predates current. BUT. Rebuilding that code would be improbable at best. Getting back the Server plates they sold and gave away is also basically impossible.

However, they could take a current iteration of the game, limit the content to the Vanilla Content, and rebuild the maps as they once were. All the upgrades to the engine, the rearrangement of requirements, and the improved world models and textures...

Just need to deactivate DKs, DHs, make it so no one has access to any of the new races of BC or later, and start fiddling with the class balance to return it back to what it was.

We're never getting back the Original Classic WoW. We're going to get the gameplay back, but that's about where it'll stop.

Except we already know is being run in modern infrastructure. Because they keep saying it's one of the reasons it's a bigger endeavor than prototype imagine.

Unlikely. They don't tend to sync them up with build releases, and numbers online are still low. (~40 people on the Sylvanas server)
