When Trump arrived to console the victims of the shooting, probably to throw paper towels at them, he was asked directly by the mother of one of the victims if there would be action on gun regulation or control.

    He ignored the question.

The NRA gave candidate Trump thirty million dollars.

He supported some gun control, NRA gives him a 30 million, now he cannot even say the word gun after school shootings.

This isn't surprising. Trump is a fucking spineless cowards that can't even say the word gun or mention that our mental health industry needs to be better. This is a man that can't even interview with another person without backing out so why should any of us expect him to even talk about a subject that needs to be talked about (not necessarily anything being done to guns though).

Guns are basically a formality in America at this point, but we're never really going to get rid of them. The best we can hope for are common sense laws, like mentally unstable not being able to get a hold of them, legally, or that the mental health industry becomes stronger so that these people like this can get some help.

People that are pro guns can be pro guns, without needing to be nutjobs, but the question to them is this. Why is it that America is the only one that has to deal with weekly shooting sprees and massacres? Why is it that we're the only country that have to deal with this? Clearly it isn't a problem with getting a hold of guns, clearly it isn't a problem of learning to use it, so why then is our country dealing with such things? Is it because there isn't enough guns? Is it because this is "God" putting some vengeance on us for gay marriage?

For those that love the NRA and gun culture why is it that our country is the only one to deal with it?

Your math is off. It's off by $29,998,935. Trump was given $1,064 dollars by the NRA, not $30 million. ROFL

You will have to click through to page 3, to find Trump.

The NRA is financially irrelevant. They didn't even give a million dollars in total, in 2016. The power of the NRA is not in buying politicians. Their power is in direct support and interaction with their members, aka voters. The NRA pressures the voters to pressure the politicians, not the politicians directly.

You lie from omission, and you know it. Direct contributions are the least important factor in donations.
Here's the same site you quoted (Opensecrets) and their take on the NRA in the 2016 election.

The NRA Placed Big Bets on the 2016 Election, and Won Almost All of Them

The NRA’s largest 2016 outlay was the $30.3 million it spent in support of Trump.
    ...
The numbers account for independent expenditures—unrestricted money spent on ads and other media, independent of official campaigns.

Fire arms really aren't necessary for hunting. With things like bows and crossbows and traps folks really don't need them.

During his campaign to become President in 2016, Trump benefited from $21million in NRA donations backing his candidacy.

A reported $9.6 million went towards pro-Trump adverts and promotional material and another $12 million went on adverts attacking Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Other sources put that figure even higher, closer to $30 million.

In federal elections, the NRA typically ranks among heavyweight outside spending groups. For the second cycle in a row, it has earned a place in the top ten. But 2016 was a unique year for the organization, owing to the fact that many super PACs, like Karl Rove’s American Crossroads GPS, which spent roughly $115 million to elect Mitt Romney in 2012, declined to back Trump. The NRA stepped in to fill the void, putting at least $30.3 million on the line to help elect the real estate mogul, more than any other outside group — including the leading Trump super PAC, which spent $20.3 million.

So Trump spent his vacation weekend at Mar-a-Lago, and he decided to ask the members of the club he's running as a government official for profit --

    "Get on with it."

-- asking them about their views on gun control. But, in an odd twist on the usual, he wasn't asking for their loyalty or the like. WaPo reports that Trump was asking for suggestions.

Trump during the holiday weekend reportedly asked the members about whether or not he should take an active stance on gun control laws. He also told them that he was closely watching the media appearances made by student survivors of the shooting, according to the Post.

Student survivors called on Trump and lawmakers to take action on gun control in the wake of the shooting that left 17 people dead. Several survivors made appearances on Sunday morning shows.

The White House announced Sunday that Trump will host a "listening session" with students to discuss school safety measures.
Let's skip past the part where we mock Trump, who has an administration almost 70% staffed, yet needs to ask people with no governing or legal experience for help about gun laws. Let's also skip the part where he's asking for help about school security, almost entirely a state issue anyhow, from children. The fact that Trump is asking what his next move should be, and is blindly groping around for help from people who are either unattached to the topic, or who are, erm, a little biased having recently been shot at, is the kind of proof he doesn't know what he's doing, and that he doesn't know who to ask, that should worry pretty much everyone.

And lest you think it's just Trump, at time of writing the #3 story on FOX News is another shooting, technically "mass" because the fourth victim was a child.

    Took place in Texas --

    "You mean Texas Roadhouse."

The Texas Roadhouse in San Antonio, yes yes Oh God Inception. Anyhow, it was one dude, with a 10-round magazine semi-automatic pistol. This is probably the third most universally accepted gun in America, even by gun control fanatics, after a revolver and a musket.

And FOX News is running the story nationwide. Even though nobody died.

That's how unsure they are about how to handle gun violence in American anymore. That's why you're seeing members of the GOP break ranks, and even a donor or two making the headlines. It might finally, finally, have dawned on the Republican Party that the decision between getting large piles of NRA cash -- Trump himself got $30 million, about two-thirds of what the NRA spent in the 2016 election -- and the easily preventable deaths of innocent Americans, might actually be a hard decision.

I know. Based purely on history, there's still a 90%, 95%, maybe higher chance this is just another Sandy Hook, just another Harvest Music Festival, just another First Baptist Church, just another Leeland Tech, or just another Pulse nightclub: the GOP joins with Americans to donate thoughts and prayers to the victims before taking thousands upon thousands of dollars to block any changes, then the incident fades into the blur of the other mass shootings so much, that you don't even realize I made one of those shootings up, and you didn't even notice, did you? And, yes, this could all just be for show so that the voters are, once again, patted on the head and told their views will be considered just before they turn their attention to something else. But this time, maybe this time, there are some cracks showing in the armor. Maybe, when the shooter is a white supremacist so clearly hateful and so clearly insane that even the GOP/Trump are blaming the FBI for not taking his guns, and the survivors are surrounded by GOP lawmakers forced to hear their cries for justice, for safety, for common sense...

...maybe this time, it'll be different.

We'll find out. I'll take the one-in-twenty shot on this one.
