You need to save the URL (sick as it is) and forward that to the authorities, without it they will have a hard time finding it.

Now that you have the edgy out of your system, go back and read what I wrote. Did I use the word incriminate? Nope, I didn't.

I said that Derp might end up as a witness, that's stressful for many people. I said that the computer's hard drive *might* end up as evidence. Again, many people might find it inconvenient for their hard drive to be in an evidence locker. It isn't my business what else might be on that drive, but someone would be going over the whole thing. While I doubt Derp has plans to commit tax fraud for example, there are potentially things on a person's hard drive that would be embarrassing to have to explain in court.
With COVID-19 making its impact on our lives, I have decided that I shall hang in there for my remaining days, skip some meals, try to get children to experiment with making henna patterns on their skin, and plant some trees. You know -- live, fast, dye young, and leave a pretty copse. I feel like I may not have that quite right.

How would they treat movies or series downloaded through torrents?

There is definitely something going on with imgur today. Hopefully they fix it soon!

i don't feel like it's an overreaction. but maybe it is, idk.

i just felt horribly disgusted and didn't know what to do with myself. now i'm feeling really just drained emotionally and need to lay down.

It really depends on what level the case is going to be tried at. The prosecution usually has fairly wide discretion.

Where it gets tricky is the defense trying to raise reasonable doubt. "Well, Derp, you say you saw bad things, but why are you sure my client had anything to do with that? You had 1 TB of anime and hentai on your hard drive. Maybe you downloaded some of that. How do you know that you didn't pick up malware browsing that kind of site?" That can be rough for the witness, even when you try to prepare them. Every now and then the witness will snap and get snarky under examination. "Oh, whatever, whatever you say, you're going to just keep asking me questions." does not go well and it can be hard to salvage that witness's testimony.

Of course, once something is evidence, it is public information. Sometimes that can become a problem of its own.

Which shows you are a layman and have no idea. You may also want to brush up on the difference between might and will.

You're such an edgy, experienced internet user. I'm so impressed by your ability to be totally unfazed by hardcore pornographic images of children.

There. Did that hit the spot for your ego? Fuck off with this shit, it clearly affected the OP enough for them to react in this way, as it would for most people I imagine.

Its not going to happen, They arnt going to give a shit if some random asshole saw bad shit on a website that got penetrated. They will go after them. Any info they would want would be gleamed from imgur servers not random ass ops computer. This isnt NCIS go back to your armchair you pretend lawyers.

I agree, back to the armchair with you and stop trying to put on airs when talking to a retired attorney. There's no telling where this will end up, but if Derp put in a report it would have put her name on a list of potential witnesses. So far, there is a record that shows she saw certain images and feels harmed by them. That's useful to the prosecution, it's potentially a face they can put on the stand.

Putting in a report is not only wasting her time, but the cops time. If imgur got penetrated and what she says happened actually happened, the fbi will be notified by imgur. They arnt going to ride off of the report of one random ass person seeing random shit.

Just move on with your day. Its not edgy to say that bad shit happens all over the world, and there is nothing you can do to stop it. You accidently saw some bad shit. But not a thing you can do about it. Life goes on.

Welp, you heard it here, folks, if one of our resident edgelords like zeta333 says it, it must be fact, regardless of what people actually involved with the law have to say.

No, somewhere there are hot lines and task forces that get a budget to take care of these things. That means somewhere there is a cop paid to field just this kind of thing, and doing so is doing his job. Fielding reports isn't wasting their time, it's justifying their budget.

Would it have been a waste of Derp's time? That isn't for either of us to say. I answered her specific question about reporting, and gave her information that might be relevant to her choice. It is well within her right to print that out and use it to wrap the kitty poop next time she scoops the box. The catch is, it is her choice to make.

IMGUR has always been the idiocracy of the internet. It's what you get when the userbase consists of mostly 14-15 year olds .
