I shouldn't even need to add the next part but you should especially not do it because it adds an unnecessary risk. ANY kind of surgery is a risk, especially on babies. You mentioned someone being a doctor. And if he is, he is either a religious nutjob or a piss-poor doctor who should get his license revoked, no qualified physician or surgeon will ever promote or even excuse a pointless surgery with possible dire risks.

OT: Circumcision is mutilation of the genitals and at best its effects are trivial. Unlike say your wisdom tooth or pinkie toe, the foreskin contains tiny nerve endings. If you want to undergo one when you're 16-17-18+, then best of wishes, but please don't mutilate your child. Don't circumcise them, microchip them, hell, don't even get their ear's pierced below an age where they have the capacity to ask for them. Children are not livestock to be docked, tagged, polled and gelded, they're human beings.

you realize that happens on a daily basis right? the entire american government is driven by religion even though their constitution specifically forbids it.

gay marriage has been illegal til like a few years ago for religious reasons to name one example.

On this topic - I was circumcised as an adult (due to a condition called BXO). Wasn't pleasant, certainly wasn't my preference, not just because of the fact it's surgery on your junk but also because being non-circumcised was part of my identity.

So while I wasn't happy about it, I can at least attest that sensation-wise, it's not as big a change as some people make out. Yes it is different, obviously. But you do adapt and I wouldn't say it's significantly changed the level of sensation overall.

Now that's not always the case, circumcision can have negative side effects, though they are fairly rare. Loss of sensation is one possibility.

Again, I wouldn't recommend circumcision if there's no medical necessity for it. But it's also not necessarily going to ruin your life.

You're right, I don't know what it is like to be circumcised, Because my parents were not adhering to stupid bloodletting rights of a religion in 2018 or faux-Hygiene ideas that sound like the Russians tactics against Napoleon.
