there's at least one that is not a bug, blizzard stated he is intended to have blue eyes. he's a blacksmith, can't remember the name.

Wow, impressive. So for one blue-eyed random Sin'dorei that you can't even remember his name because he's nobody, blood elves should totally have the blue-eyed option. But the Alliance, home of the High elves since the very beginning of WoW, should not.
This is getting ridiculeous, really.

you got your void elves, that's all you'll ever get. the majority of the thalassian elven population is horde. blue-eyed or otherwise.

Gold eyes maybe. But never blue eyes. Blood Elfs aren't high Elfs and they shouldn't look like them.

Blood elves are exactly high elves. you have High elves with green eyes that joined the silver covenant and you have Blood elves that weren't in Quel'thalas when the magisters rebuild the city with fel, who still have blue eyes. Not to mention, even High elves are blood elves since canonically, every high elf (Those allied with Quel'thalas during the scourge invasion atleast.) named themselves blood elf after the scourge invasion to honour their fallen, and this was before any of the fel stuff even happened. Valeera even called herself blood elf in the past, and I doubt she would disrespect those that died there because of a disagreement that had nothing to do with the name.

The only reason we seperate them between blood and high elves is for simplicities sake, so that people who don't follow the lore can easier understand it. Because for some reason having the silver covenant faction isn't enough to show who their loyalties are towards.

I know they are the race genetically. But they are different people's and cultures. It's useful to be able to tell them apart.

Cultural difference. For one thing they have oppersite political allgencies. Blood Elves are more open to using different sources of power, just not void apparently. High Elves are a refugee race.

those are not cultural differences are political differences, by the way the blood elves became quite traditionalists in the last time you have to listen to the new lines of dialogue of Rommath.

Doubt it. Horde already is getting all the good races better zones and such in bfa. The alliance will loose their shit if they keep showing horde all the love

I have to disagree here, the Horde start zone in BFA feels like just a rehashed Zul-Drak/Throne of Thunder. Im not happy with it at all as a long term Horde player im sick of Trolls.
The Alliance starting zone feels a lot more interesting then yet another Troll zone. I was hoping they'd make it a lush forest similar to STV but no we get a nasty ugly grey Zuldrak wannabe.

Also the fact that Alliance now has the Blood Elf Model with arguably better hairstyles and better colours I'd say Alliance is probably going to be getting the best influx its had in a long time.

Physical alterations are not necessarily genetic. Especially with magic. Look at worgen for instance.
