Have you ever suffered from sleep paralysis? I've been reading about it and it seems terrifying. Even worse I read some people hallucinate during. Seeing shadow people in their rooms.

Yeah I've had it. Gotten used to it after a couple of times. It's happened about 10 times that I recall. First time I was on methloquin which already gives you crazy dreams.
once, when i was like 10 to 12. can't remember exactly.
i woke up a bit easier than has been described, but i guess it's a case by case basis.
Happens to me all the time. Pretty much any time I take a nap, I will experience sleep paralysis. It is quite frightening initially, but once you calm down you can usually pull yourself out of it pretty quickly.
I think I had it once.
I felt like I was floating above my body, couldn't move, not sure if I even breathed. I had to "will" myself back in my body after which I took a deep breath. Never wanted that feeling ever again.
First time was terrifying whilst still asleep and really confusing when I awoke, but almost everytime I've had sleep paralysis I've had that sense of something terrible coming to get you.
After the first few times (which all happened in the same night) I pretty much had a handle on it being one of those weird things your brain does occassionally and it became tedious.
Once, about a year back. However, I can not be entirely sure it was not just a dream. It might be possible that I was dreaming that I woke up, exactly in the same pose and could not move. And then I actually woke up. I am not sure because perception of these events are relatively blurry. For example I remember feeling pressure of my chin on a pillow. But I do not think that I remember, for example, a blanket on top of me, or if my feet were worm or cold, etc.
I have episodes regularly, it's a side-effect of my medication but quite frankly, I used to have episodes of sleep paralysis for as long as I can remember.
My episodes will always be me laying on my back in bed, looking out over the room. I'll then see something, for example a man with a very square, long face staring at me from the darkest corner of the room. He's got milky, white eyes and a very "flat" expression, not many attributes to his face other than the eyes and mouth which has no lips.
When I was younger, I used to scream for help during the episode, crying. Once the episode let go of me, I would be angered with my dad that he had not come rushing to my aid when I was frantic with fear. The first time it happened, my parents literally believed that someone had actually been in my room, and I was brought to hospital for a physical despite my description of the "man" being outlandish to say the least and not at all realistic.
It quickly became obvious to the doctors however that I was suffering from sleep paralysis. As I got older, I started getting far greater control of my dreams and now whilst I can be "caught" in a sleep paralysis for a short time, I can also be totally aware of what's going on and thus interrupt the process. I believe lucid dreaming is a pretty common trick for people to adopt in these cases. I no longer fear the episodes, and I have a special pillow against the wall which prevents me from rolling over onto my back, since that's when the episodes are triggered. <.<
Whenever people speak of seeing "angels" or "aliens" or "demons" during the night, I think sleep paralysis.
I've had them since I was a kid. They've tapered off now that I'm in my 30s. They only happen every 3 or 4 months now. I still have pretty vivid nightmares and terrors, but the paralysis is much reduced.
I suffer from it, it's pretty weird, I don't hallucinate though (luckily). I get it once or twice a month. I would say I've gotten used to it, as much as one could.
Usually I'm aware when it's happening, and I try to shake myself fully awake. The first time it happened to me I was terrified though, which was about 10 years ago.
No, never it sure doesn't sound like fun.

Yep, had it a few times. But one was special, i could swear i saw my soul that night.
I woke up completely paralysed, with tinglings that started in my legs and soon dominated all my body. Tried to scream and all, but without success, since my voice was not coming out. Then suddenly, a bright, shapeless, neon like blue light crossed my room walls and came slowly into my direction.
Right after that neon like light entered my body, i released a powerful scream and was able to move again. A few seconds later my mom entered my room to check if i was ok, and i told her i had a nightmare. But i had the feeling that light filled me with life again.
That experience was so vivid and intense, it blew my mind for a while.
It was a hell of a hallucination. I wish i had it again, to be able to experience it entirely and calmly this time.
