There is no competition between these choices. A billion obviously. Now, if you want a more tricky scenario, one should decide between a perfect sleep and a billion with constant nightmares every time you fall asleep. The ones that might wake you up screaming. So, perfect sleep vs likelihood of insanity in a few years with a huge pay check.

The efficiency problems is why. There are ways to get oxygen and water without breathing or drinking, but the efficiency loss in those alternative ways cuts down the remaining time to minutes without breathing, or few days without drinking. Sleep isn't much different, just some more days extra.

World record seemed to be around 11 days without sleep. If you believe you can do better no problem, then that's an easy way to get your name into record books. Actually, if you believe you can beat it by say, several years, then you're sure to get the billion dollars along the way in just advertisement money.

While he broke that record, he didn't meditate or closed his eyes. I'm not saying i can be fully functional like him. I can meditate for lets say 1 day with my eyes closed. That's more efficent than the way he did. So even i can't sleep my brain and body will rest.

That's not like i don't wanna sleep again. That's like i want to sleep but can't. Sure i wish i didn't need sleep ever.

Also intubation is more efficent than breathing.

Meditation still makes you lack sleep, especially the REM phase, which is the most important part. I'm unsure how long meditation would actually prolong the situation, but I'd still wager on the side of not much rather than much.

And yes, it may be, but it's just an artificial way of doing the same thing as breathing does.

then the question arises: how bad is the rest at night for those with 1bn ? unless it's nightmares or insomnia for decades to come: pfft !

Pretty sure all the beautiful, high dollar escorts you can buy with a billion dollars will help make sure you sleep soundly.

I hate the fact that I have to sleep already, without it costing me a billion dollars.

The money. I'm already used to sleeping like shit.

As i only very very rarly have any sorts of sleeping problems (aka i mostly close me eyes and wake up the next morning) ofc i would take the 1 billion.

I am assuming they must be mutually exclusive, so I choose the latter. Not that I have sleeping problems, but I would like to continue to not have sleeping problems.

I have insomnia and I’d even take the billion. I’ve gotten by so far without a steady sleep schedule. I’ll get by even better if I didn’t have to worry about bills any more.

Just think how many sleeping pills I can buy with that money

  16. #116
Depends on what the alternative to perfect sleep is. Being ill, unable to move and having unbearable headaches etc? Sleep. Mild annoyances while sleeping? Money.

Might have been more interesting as "A million dollars or never needing sleep again"

My next gaming rig is going to be ~$1700 depending on video card prices >_>

I only play Borderlands 2(3 if it ever releases) and WoW so I don't need 2 Titan XP's lol. I decided to go with a 500 gig SSD since I store everything in the cloud now anyways and 32 gigs of ram and 8700k.

ofc that rig mentioned is there to bait you: there's no game you could not run, so why settle for Borderlands and WoW ?
the original rig by the pc magazine came with 3 x 27'' monitors to enjoy the Titan XP's work.
