A lawyer would get disbarred so fast if they told anyone to refuse a subpoena... They could start a motion to quash, but there's no refusing a subpoena.

Right. Trump having hookers piss on something out of spite and pettiness would be the least surprising thing ever.

Especially if it had to do with Obama.

Though it would give license to even the most salacious rumours; if he'd stoop to that, what wouldn't he do? Anyone could make up anything and it would sound credible.

Like did you know Trump accidentally ran over and killed a guy and had his lawyer bribe his wife not to go to the cops?

Trump supporters are going to have to start pissing on everyone just to "own the libtards".

Oh man, he's literally calling CNN on the air and asking for legal advice.

Former Trump campaign adviser Sam Nunberg on Monday sought CNN host Jake Tapper's advice on whether he should follow through in refusing to comply with a subpoena from special counsel Robert Mueller.

“Do you think I should cooperate? Should I spend 80 hours going over my emails, Jake?” Nunberg asked at the conclusion of an interview on “State of the Union.”

“If it were me I would,” Tapper responded. “If you’re just asking my opinion, just because it sounds like a pain but he is the special counsel and he does have the long arm of the law.”

Nunberg then questioned why he should have to compile dozens of emails he exchanged with the likes of Steve Bannon and Roger Stone during his time on the campaign.

“Sometimes life and special prosecutors are not fair, I guess, I would cooperate were it me. But, you know, I’m a different breed of cat,” Tapper said.
Oh my God, that bolded text.

It was my understanding that given the number of Dem Senators up for reelection, taking the House back would actually be more realistic. Regardless, you're right - a lot can happen and who knows what's next on Mueller's indictment list.

My guess, and it's just a guess, is that Stone got him agitated. As well as the possibility of just how much incriminating information is contained in those communications.

Now, I'm not, nor have I previously, disagreed with your position above. And you're right, the U.S. sucks at regime change follow through.

As I remember it, the penalty for contempt is "you stay in jail until you agree to comply".

Also...I don't think you can pardon on contempt. Could be wrong, it's not clear, and it's never been tested to my knowledge. But I am clear that, if Nunberg is jailed for refusing to comply with a subpoena, and he is then pardoned -- that's obstruction of justice.

Trump pardoned Joe Arpaio for contempt of court.

So Nunberg just confirmed Trump knew of the Trump tower meeting with the Russians working for the FSB, and was talking about it for days beforehand. I can see why he did so too, it got him giddy that he'd have dirt he could use to publicly attack Hillary Clinton. However that means he was party to soliciting help from the Russians which breaks campaign finance law, so that's one more thing to add to the charge list against Trump.
