What two consenting adults do is not your concern. They wouldn't be in that situation had they not made bad life choices to begin with and certainly would not consider doing such a thing if it went against their morals. There are plenty of other resources to tap into, especially in this age of white knights who can stand up for people, yet never allow them to stay in their own homes. Hypocrites be hypocrites yo. News at 11.

I have a spare room but I would rather not have a roommate and if I did rent it out I'd rather have the money.

Considering rent prices and the going rate of escorts these days, if you're talking a single encounter for a month of rent the tenants of a moral fibre to consider the offer are getting a pretty good deal.

If the landlord goes, I don't want rent this month I want sex or i'll evict you, YES, that's coercion and YES, it should be illegal.

But giving someone the option is not illegal its an agreement between parties and as long as it is consensual who cares?

Going into a housing agreement stating you must have sex with me as a form of payment for housing is prostitution and is illegal.

Someone offering sex as an alternative is not. You pay your rent or you get evicted. If the landlord is nice enough to offer for whatever reason, wow, good for them. They arent forcing you down and raping you or taking advantage and YES, if you don't pay your rent you WILL get evicted but trying to work around that without evicting someone is not illegal.

That's like saying "It's completely moral for a boss to solicit sex from an employee with the promise of a promotion" or any other such thing where someone is giving a quid pro-quo for sex.

Which society, by and large, denotes as being quite amoral, the ramblings of a few internet goers with what I take to be very poor perceptions of sex notwithstanding.

In fact I think this sentiment outlines it nicely:

Why not slap a hefty tax on vacant property so that these predatory leeches are driven out of business and efficient owners can take over?
Now I haven't confirmed this, but I've heard from friends that there are also evil men who have offered "adult arrangements" to poor women in exchange for cash. The poor women still have to find their own apartment. The men only give them money. I think this may be a new problem...and maybe only in obscure countries...not sure.

I suspect the counter argument will be that they will say once you sign the marriage license, you are contractually obligated to provide your wife with free housing, while your wife is under no obligation to you and can freely deny you sex.

What an amazing source if true, lol

Ignoring the fact that this is a story by BBC and the only thing Zero Hedge did was report it, how bloody stupid do you have to believe those links? They can't discredit the news from Zero Hedge so they resort to using bullshit hysteric labels like "alt-right" and "pro-Russian". Don't be so fucking gullible. This is almost as bad as those USA dimwits screaming their heads off about Russian "trolls" and "bots" meddling in elections when in the end no one but themselves is to blame for voting at the polling stations.

Attractive individuals are exploiting less attractive ones by getting things from them for free for sex!

You can completely pull a 180 on the premise of the OP.

It doesn't help that most people are just talking over and ignoring each other. The bullet point as to why its coercion is because of the topic in question: "The poor". It isn't that there isn't an option to pay money for rent or have sex with them. That alone is a choice and can actually be completely moral IMO regardless of the legality of it.

The part that specifically is making people saying its immoral, illegal, exploitative, etc. is they're framing this offer deliberately to people who don't have the option of payment because they would be too poor. Which no longer makes it a conscious choice of paying money vs. sex if they don't have the money, and sex vs. homelessness is probably beyond tempting-- especially to anyone who is even vaguely familiar with being close to or actually experienced homelessness before.

I'm personally not too bothered by the dilemma because I still think its preferable to being homeless (and if they're enough of a catch to get this offer, it seems odd that they'd have problems attaining a job), but it is tiring to see people skirt the actual argument instead of engaging in it as if its an either money or sex when the offer is presented to people who don't have the money specifically.

Everyone in this world seems so obsessed with sex, look if I had a room for rent I would want money, money buys things and allows you to do thing and help others. Having sex with someone only cost problems and even worst with a random stranger. And really the dilemma is that these people not seem to have only have a bad choice vs a bad choice, what is horible I had no idea things got this bad in the UK!

Because I'm not some object that you can buy for your own sexual pleasure?

Most likely goes back to early history.

Sex has always been a way to pay for things.

You're putting the horse before the cart here. In the situation that was the context of this post, the person renting the house wouldn't be in a position of possible eviction if they didn't agree to rent the property for sex in the first place, knowing full well they can't afford it with cash.
I think half the ppl in here diden´t read the OP.
It´s like only you and that @Boomzy acutally read the article.

    So is food.

How dare farmers, grocery stores and fast food places coerce and exploit that need for money.

Yeah but the counter argument is that without this "option", they would still be without shelter.

The other option is no shelter. I'm not going to say this dude's being noble or anything, but at least he's giving options.

My landlord "makes" me sleep with him, all tall, muscled masculinity taking advantage of poor little me.
