Confirmed by Proenix (Spanish Blizzard MVP) that next hero will be an Starcraft one due to the 20th anniversary event. Next week we´ll have more info about it.

So is Blizzard just pretending Diablo never existed by now? But hey, at least no Overwatch or Wacraft.

Yeah Diablo could use more heroes.... Though I am glad we can take a break from Warcraft and OW. I am hoping for a specialist or support.

I mean, D3 is over and done with. It's highly unlikely that it'll see any new content aside from new portrait frames and pets/pennants for seasons. Not surprising that SC gets attention for their birthday when Diablo didn't. As long as SC has a competitive scene that's alive, it'll probably keep getting some love. A competitive scene is probably also the reason why SC1 got it's HD release and we're seeing WC3 get a new patch now, there's still more money to be made off those games.

That's not to say that I wouldn't like a Diablo hero.

We know it will be SC hero so we can do some analysis. Until now Starcraft heroes were added to fill gaps in race/role. Blaze, terran warrior, was last part in this scheme. So what next?
    - It's anniversary so new hero will be well known (and probably from SC1).
    - We have 3 warriors, 1 from each race.
    - We also have 3 supports, but Tassadar is pretty old and isn't a typical healer, so protoss healer is viable (Rohana maybe?).
    - We have 6 assassins, 3 terrans, 2 protoss and 1 zerg. Only 1 zerg assassin and pretty old, but there is not many named zergs. Primal zerg maybe?
    - And we have 4 specialists, 2 zergs, 1 protoss and 1 terran. Sgt. Hammer is pretty old and very specific so new terran specialist is very likely, especially last specialist was added year ago (Probius, 14th March 2017). We also have many possible characters - Mengsk (datamined in beta, even with skills), Swann, Duke, Warfield.
    - Also we can get completely new character - Xel'naga. Only Duran/Narud fits here.
    - Or I'm completely wrong and we will get Fenix, Karax or Overmind , but I bet we will get Mengsk or Xel'naga.

If its Starcraft and old/requested by the public I'm going to go with

60% it's Fenix (my bet as a Dragoon Specialist)
    30% it's Mengsk (specialist)
10% it's Overmind (Abathur type specialist - not sure how they could make it into a competitive hero and not just some situational one)

Special shout to making an Infestor hero (reference to Carbot's Derpfestor) that just steals and mind controls stuff to get on your nerves

well you know thats not true sooo.

they dont just do heroes that are iconic they do ones that are fun mechanically and then ones that are important for the game. if Imperious or that one narator that has no reason ever being in this game despite how people keep asking for it, would have the skillset to similar to a hero recently released they will push back development.
Romance doesnt detract from a story. Its a Genre, like horror or comedy or adventure. The game was ruined when we got Horror in drustvar or nazmir. It wasnt ruined when we had funny quests. So if you think a little man on man love ruins the game, then yes you are either a homophobe or just a spoil sport that goes "ewww kissing is yucky" like a baby. Furthermore, if a character has never expressed interest in any gender, then its not proof they are straight. straight people are not the default

It is a datamined file not some promise from Blizzard to release a Diablo hero next.

Proly we would get an Starcraft hero now and Deckard Cain next month (as it was hinted as next hero) or maybe Mal´Ganis (also hinted).

First of of all, it is Imperius.

Sometimes they could mix up franchises as well, I also look forward to Diablo Heroes the most. I honestly have no ties to most Starcraft characters as I never really played the game and same goes for Overwatch. Does that means I do not care for the Heroes? No, but obviously not enough releases from my favourite franchise keep killing the execitement for the game itself. If slowing down Hero releases means I will see 1 Diablo character at best, fuck that man.

If we are talking about mechanics, I just don't see how most Diablo characters can not be created. There is way more substance to the characters other than "I deal damage". For example Imperius as archangel of Valor is said to be inspiring presence on battlefield and they could build a part of his kit around buffing allies when he deals damage. Then you have Belial, Lord of Lies, who could be this new weird Hero to explore infiltration and stuff like that.

I know I might be overly dramatic, but I am slowly losing interest in new stuff for this game. Especially after 2017 letdown.

Which is probably why she barely got over half the votes Blaze got. (I just remember people mistook Garrosh for Maiev for a while, so even she was "teased")

Mephisto, Fenix, Anduin, Vol'jin and Grom, for example, are heroes that have been wanted for a long time by a decent contingency of people. Atleast if I'm remembering it correctly.

Not to say Imperius isn't a requested hero but there's no denying that he got a major spike in popularity after the Blizzcon portal tease.

Yeah, sure. Difference is Imperius has been up there with Mephisto as the most requested Diablo Heroes for a long ass time.

    October 2017: https://i.imgur.com/DT4MwoU.jpg
    • If you ignore the Deathwing meme and leaked releases, Mephisto and Imperius are the most requested Heroes
    September 2017: https://i.imgur.com/Vkc3WCZ.jpg
    • Again, ignore the meme and leaks to see Mephisto and Imperius in top 3 requested Heroes

Just check the rest of the survey results and you see Imperius getting higher in priority since July of last year. The only two other characters who contest his popularity on regular basis are Velen and Fenix. Yes the data may be skewed, but it can still show something valuable. And no, this is not me making case for Imperius even though I would love to see him getting released.

As I said, I just want more Diablo Heroes in the game as I think the characters have a lot of artistic freedom for their interrations which seems interesting. Unlike pretty much every Overwatch character where it is just a matter of implementation and maybe second Heroic.

I just wanted to point out that Imperius being top requested is tied to a tease/theory. Imperius was higher up than I thought though (atleast recently). People bandwagon vote on these polls with stuff that is hype in the moment. Which I don't really get because they're basicly asking for stuff that's semi-confirmed at times but I digress.

I fully agree on Diablo heroes, though. A male DH could draw from a ton of different archetypes, he could even be a ranged bruisery hero with Shadow Power. On the other hand, Baal and Mephisto probably get shoehorned into ranged assassin/specialist. Maybe support but I'd kinda hate someone with "hatred" or "destruction" as part of their title would end up being supports. It's the same reason I often vote Mekkatorque. All that's set in stone is that he has a mech (or even just engineering stuff), he could do just about anything aside from that.

Meh Blizzard is that kind of company that does the job for few months later like in one day (Pre-patch data for example , or voicelines that aren't used and are for other heroes are a good example) , most likely we will see that after this starcraft hero

Favourite does not mean most popular overall. Abathur just has hardcore fans and it is no wonder he always places high.
