Creepy Joe? Or socialist Bernie? If that is the best they can do, the Democrats are really desperate.

Not at all with those running. Both are too damn old for another strike against them. And besides if the Democrats came up with a actual good candidate, who was not some far left socialist, I might even vote for them. After all, I did vote for Obama in 2008.

    I disagree.

First of all, is it really fair to describe Biden, and let's include Obama as well, as New Democrats? Are they really? I know Obama said as much at 1 time (that we know of) during an event were he was trying to cozy up to a group of... New Democrats. As for Biden, was he ever part of any of the New Democrat groupings in Congress or anything like that? I checked Wikipedia and he was listed there in a couple of places, but then when I clicked the source he wasn't actually mentioned. They seem comparatively to the left of Bill Clinton.

Secondly, Bernie is not "far left".

The Democratic Party basically has 4 factions:

    - The Conservatives ("Blue Dogs") - these guys are center-right, ideology: Liberal Conservatism

    - The Centrists ("New Democrats") - these guys are center, ideology: Classical Liberalism (yes, that is not the same as Right-Libertarianism, Right-Libertarianism in its most moderate forms are a radicalization of Classical Liberalism)

    - The Liberals (The mainstream, the majority of the party) - these guys are center-left, ideology: Social Liberalism (which is not the same as being 'socially liberal', although social liberals are socially liberal).

    - The Progressives (Bernie and his bros, etc.) - these guys are center-left to left-wing, ideologically spanning from Social Democracy to Democratic Socialism (in the case of Bernie somebody who calls himself a Democratic Socialist although he is really a Social Democratic populist).

It seems like a no-brainier that they should NOT go with a New Democrat, but rather with a Liberal.

I think Biden may fit into that camp, but I'm not sure. Of the options provided in the poll I would overwhelmingly favor him. I think he'd be great. But I think the better option would be to select somebody else from the Liberal faction who is way younger. Hopefully the 2020 primaries will be crowded and one of those will come out on top.

Though I agree with you in that I don't want to see Bernie be the candidate, or anyone else from the Progressive faction. But they are not far-left. I would support such a candidate over Trump, obviously.

Dems will end up picking jokes like Oprah, Chelsea Clinton, or Michelle Obama for those juicy diversity memes in favor of quality policies and then lose in 2020 again.

    lol

Come on Dems, don't fuck us for another 4 years. Seriously.
A status quo politician is exactly what will be appealing after 4 years of Trump. You know what won't be? One wacky character on the right and another on the left.

Pushing far left candidates is going to do just that. Especially if they go about it in the same way they went about it in 2016 and drive a wedge down the middle of the Democrat base. Because GOP voters vote for whoever runs, Democrats who feel slighted don't turn out and vote. Hotly contested primaries where establishment types and progressives attack each other guarantees people will be slighted.

I can only assume "progressives" won't be happy until the GOP has super majorities in both houses of congress.

And far left idiots have already started the shit-slinging towards establishment Democrats for the November elections.

They could you just not pass tax plans that add an unpaid for 1.5 trillion to the debt that'd be a really good start.

What is so wacky about Bernie, his policies? Stuff that every other modern nation has in some form. You cannot continue to vote in a status quo president and expect things to change for the better.

Bernis is whacky when you think American politics actually has a left-wing.
Human progress isn't measured by industry. It's measured by the value you place on a life.

    Just, be kind.

He cares about the American people.

    It's pretty radical.

If it's not Republican odds are pretty high I will vote for it. These years have been such a mockery to the whole world including the United States.

I mean if the dems want to handicap themselves if by some miracle Trump is still in office by 2020. I’ll get all my “I fucking told you so” in now.

Im thinking Harris, Gillibrand, Murphy, or Brown.

I would rather have Biden than a lot of the younger democrats. He speaks his mind and he is less phony than other democrats ( I always vote democrat ). I would rather Bernie Sanders won because i would rather have more socialistic policies or policies that were closer to socialism than what we have now. I do not think Bernie sanders would get nominated.

Much as I would like Bernie, or Biden if not Bernie, their time is past.

    Eric Garcetti(P)/Caroline Kennedy(VP)

and then appoint Barack Obama to the next vacant SCOTUS slot

I lost any faith in Biden years ago when he said that FDR addressed the nation on TV after the 1929 stock market crash.

The Democrat establishment does not want an actual left wing president like Bernie because he wants to take away their corporate moneys.
