Don't be sad because it's over, smile because it happened.

We all benefitted from his intellect, and his determination to never let his disability stop him.

Rest in Peace Stephen, thank you for all you gave us

This loss hurts. He was truly one of the most brilliant minds we've ever seen. RIP steven hawking.

However I can't help but wonder what they're going to do with his chair. I hope it goes into a museum somewhere.

Wow, this really got to me. I was woken up by my SO this morning so I could hear it.

Hawking was the last of the modern scientists I really, really looked up to; and that truly inspired me. He shared that with Sagan and Feynman.
I don't know who to look up to now. It's as if I lost my direction.

Few contributed more to modern science than this man. What a truly beautiful mind he had.
    Well excuuuse me, Princess.

    You are now breathing manually.

Even if someone's died, if they leave such an impact to help us grow and understand as a society, then they achieved something great.

People still look up to Einstein despite how long ago he died, because he left so much for us to learn from. Dr Hawkings did the same, and I'm certain he would always be happy knowing people learned from him. That's the best we can do to honor him.

    That is unfortunate. RIP

Well, it's sad but 76 is pretty much a full life, so living as long as he did is kind of an accomplishment all of its own.

Not to diminish his contributions to Physics, but he's not really "an Einstein". Einstein (and others) revolutionised all of physics, Hawking just expanded on it.

Fair enough. Hawking and Einstein would of been best pals, I doubt it really matters, but to most people he was like the modern day Einstein, though their contributions are not entirely equal they both should not be diminished but admired at the same level.

I'm still in shock. Of course, it was nothing short of miraculous that he had managed to live such a long life despite all odds. He was, to me, the greatest and most inspiring human being to live in this world. Rest in peace, Professor.
