I'm sorry but this is very dumb. Meth is a pretty popular thing in my neighbourhood, and out of the friends I have that have done it and the people I've spoken to, none of them said "I was scared of what would happen if I didn't do meth." It's almost always "Yeah it seemed pretty fun and then it was." I mean holy shit, it's meth or not meth, not a life or death situation like your example of JUMPING FROM THE WTC. That being said, I hope she uses the donation money to buy meth.

Your brain does not stop developing until age 25 and the last part of your brain to develop fully is your perception of risk/consequences. That plus a local culture around meth use + desire to be accepted by peers is what drives people to try illicit substances, and then end up addicted to them.

You're right, it makes no sense and it is a decision that I never made but at the same time there are reasons why people do the things they do.

I'm not sure that's a fair comparison. They were being scorched by intense heat or choking on smoke. The choice was a quick death or painful one, easy choice. I'm not sure how you can be more afraid of meth than not doing it, knowing what it has done to people.

People can do what they want with their money, I just think if you are going to donate, why not donate it to some family who lost their father to a car accident, or to cancer patients, rather than to someone with a self inflicted injury.

I guess. That is exactly the conversation my co worker and I just had, they just said what you said. I get being pressured into like, smoking pot, but meth/crack just has such a bad rep, I think thats over the line of peer pressure. I guess she just doesn't think like I do. If people are going to donate money, why not donate to someone who lost the family earner to a car accident or cancer patients? Why donate to someone with self inflicted injuries?

Well apparently not as they already reached 41k out of their 50k goal. I agree in a just world people would take care of their bodies, not drink or do drugs, exercise and eat healthy, accidents would not happen and disorders due to genetics did not exist. But alas we do not, and unfortunately there is no way to police everyone in order to make sure that they live a clean lifestyle.
