While I normally would argue you can't throw blood fox further than you can throw your mom, I really really like blood fox's post about why we need to vote. Thumbs up. No town read for the effort.

But yeah, he's right. By voting some poor unfortunate soul for all the wrong reasons, we get to see who agrees with such a lynch, who disagrees, and fronts will emerge. If we're lucky, those fronts will line up between pro-town lynching and pro-scum scum lynching.

If that isn't the case (and let's face it, that's not likely) there will still be some information in who does the arguing. Scum in one mafia team often tend to not argue between each other. Scum in general tends to lean back and let others drive the game (it's kinda bad for a scum to be the one leading a mislynch). After reading what people say, you can start making theories on who is on a team, who isn't on a team; who you agree with and who you disagree with, what the motivations for each player is, and... it all adds up to some good info when you accumulate it.

By doing what graeham says - just lynch the least active player - you lose all that. It's not a brilliant deal, as you will solely rely on the Town Power Roles (TPRs) to carry the game. And usually, they tend to die early...
